Also, does the TL AWD comes standard with a "map reading light"?
Plus on mitsu web site it says you need a 430CCA battery, but currently in my car there is a 230CCA battery.

Nice purchase.

Don't forget there are two different AWD models in the range, the base model, and the VR AWD. I would assume the map lights be forfeited in the base AWD model.

Defintely needs a 430cca battery in there.

Even the small cars have a 280cca battery.

How do you find the fuel consumption on the awd. I took my tj sports to mitsubishi one day to get an electric window fixed, and the service manager loved the look of my car. Then he pointed to an awd magna and said, " What ever you do, do not buy one of these. You would not believe how much fuel they use!" Sounded funny coming from a mitsubishi man (faith in there own product - nil -)

they do use more fuel than a stardard FWD magna i think it was 1 ltr or 2 more per 100 kms

Definitely a text book case study if you ever need one of: if you don't have nuttin to say, don't say nuttin at all.

That's like Ferrari pointing to one of their cars saying "it's got only 2 seats, uses premium and lots of it" ?

It does uses 1 - 2 ltrs more, but the fun of cornering fast etc out weights that.

I believe is still all fun and good? Cheers on your purchase. Hope to end up with one of these in the future.

My friend who is driving a toyota was quite convinced to get a Magna for his next car after seeing how much I can do up my current one. lol

Everytime I look at the car, I smile from ear to ear.

My partner said we shouldnt of got the car because im in love with it more than her.

I was going to get mags (because I like the look of Low profile tyres) but these stock mags look great so im in two minds wheather to change them. Ill ring up mitsu tomorrow and ask them about the battery though.

Btw: Does anyone have the part(s) number for the "Map light"?

Thanks

This is basically what happned......

Talked to the sales person, sales person said. "Ill put in a offer of $15000 (stamp duty extra)"
I went ok.
Came back said, manager said no go.
Then I said "$14500 then"
went away, her and manager came back.
manager said: ok, $18500.
I went: $15000 (not including stamp)
then he went, um i dont know.
Then I said ok, $14990 driv-a-way then
he went, ok... then sounded angry and said "u r bloody getting a good car, hope u r happy"
did all the paper work etc and I let them have my old magna because I was in a front on accident (bloody trucks), it is still drivable but will cost $$$$$ to fix up.

I've had my TL VR AWD for about 6 weeks now - love the car. My fuel consumption experience is around 14 / 15 when just running around the suburbs, tends to be shortish trips, we live in a quite hilly area of Melbourne, and I don't thrash it. Took the car out for a short run on Anzac day, about 100kms, mainly highway / freeway , clocked the trip at around 10.3 litres / 100kms.

Your point being. Seemed like a reasonable question to me. We know a ferrari uses lots of juice, but we dont expect a family sedan to use too much hopefully.

The one theing the AWD misses is the power.
Get the supercharger, it makes the car what it should be

I will be getting a super charger no doubt about that but only when my warrenty runs out and i save up the $$$

I'd say you won't be getting one then. I don't think sprintex is going to keep making s/c for a superceded model when there hasnt been that much interest for them. Not enough to make it profitable, they will put there production dollars into harley davidsons etc

Dude I have the TL AWD VR-X (very similar). For your list of upgrades get a CAI system. You wont belive the difference on power and fuel economy.

Well they should make them more affordable. If the kit cost $5k instead of 7 i'd buy one tomorrow.

Sounded funny coming from a mitsubishi man (faith in there own product - nil -) My TL AWD proves a bit thirtsy around town, usually around 11-12lts/100. It's a lot more frugal on the highway, usually low 10's and if no hills high 8's. Remember, its around 1670kgs and with a 3.5 lt pulling that weight, expect to sacrafice fuel for the AWD package. In my book, that's a fair trade-off. For the price of the AWD, you get extreme value.

I happily live with that. Be smooth and gentle on the right foot around town my son, and anticipate throttle response. I manage to do 11-12lts/100 city cycle, which is OK. Just remember when you need AWD grip and plant your foot, it all works out very nicely in the Magna and that's why you bought one. Just remember how much you didn't pay for it. Compare the Magna AWD showroom floor price with a Subaru Liberty (great car!) and remember how much you saved on the price difference. So you end up with a bit more weight and a bit more from the wallet at the bower. If you bought new like me, remember your 5/10 warranty. It's all a matter of perspective. Drive your car like you drink your beer (guzzle or sip).

If anyone is interested, Charlestown Toyota (near Newcastle) have a Silver TW VRX Awd with 67000 klm on it for $24,995 (or some figure like that) I took it for a test drive today for my father in law. Drives ok but I noticed it has the same clunks in the front end as my TL. Its in pretty good condition. Has a couple of gutter scrapes on the back left wheel. As it turns out my f/in law has decided not to buy at this stage.
Also looked at trading my TL in on a Mazda 6 MPS to day. They offered me $15K. Needless to say I still have the TL.
If Mitsubishi could just get rid of the clunks and rattles in the front end it would be a good car.
