What with the price reshuffling of the 380's, I managed to pick one up today for $36,990 + ORC. It is a brand new 2005-plate vehicle. I do think that it was a pretty good price, as the GT has an on-road RRP of close to $50,000.

Anyway, looking forward to collecting the car.

Meanwhile, if anyone is looking for a KH Verada xi, I have one for sale! (Please see related thread in the for sale forum)

Hopefully the salary packaging people at work will get back to me fairly quickly.

Well done on your purchase mate, as you know the 380GT is the hero model in the 380 range and has every extra available.

It is an excellent car the 380GT and apart from it's safety features is on par with German marques in features. I'm sure you'll enjoy you new car and good luck with it!

By the way.. what colour did you get???

And you HAVE to post pics once you get it :)

I selected the "Storm" grey colour, but the dealer inserted a clause in the contract
"subject to availability of colour in '05 plated stock"

......the salesman assures me that it won't be a problem, but I sure hope that grey is available!

oh, and I had to get the "grandpa" accessories of mudflaps, headlight & bonnet protectors and floor mats too!

I know the "Storm" colour you mean... very hot colour for the 380 and it really suits the 380GT.

About the dealer clause, that seems strange, but, I spose considering it's pre-made stock it is suitable. I hope that you get the "Storm" colour you wanted though (that's the colour I'd pick, or black if it isn't their).

If you wanted to take these off it wouldn't be that hard, but, if you're gonna be driving in the country it's probably better to keep them on. It's amazing how much of a difference the bonnet protector makes, especially if you've seen one that's been on a car since new and taken off 7 years later (my dads beemer). It keeps the paint underneath that spot perfect and stops stupid chips from rocks and what not (but the beemer, circa 1998 still hasn't had a big rock chip and it's done 190,000km now! so I don't know how useful the bonnet protector is; except against bugs lol ).

.............the dealer rang me today, to say that they are having some difficulty in finding a storm grey GT.

However, they said that they would honour their $36,990+ORC pricing and try to find a new '06 GT, which sounds good, but I'm interested to see if they will stick by their word.

Congrats on the purchase.

Does your ORC include freight?

Whats the total cost of the car? Around 40?

Doubtful, doesn't frieght come in under dealer delivery?
Though they could try and sting you for more ORC. Did they tell you how much ORC would cost before signing?

No freight......buying locally. Total on-road price is $40803. (No trade-in)

They haven't got back to me yet about actually having a vehicle there. Hope they do so soon

Which colours do you guys reckon are good? My first choice, as mentioned earlier, would be grey storm, which is the colour I have selected. Blue steel is nice too. Black always looks striking, but I don't think it's metallic, and even the new ones are getting pretty swirly in the paintwork already. White's OK I guess, but just a bit boring. Ditto for silver. Which leaves Molten Red, but I've never personally been a fan of RED!

Blue steel or White (Mawson) - Theres a white 380GT around my area and it always turns my head.. The blue ones are ... ugly.. with the clear tail lights.. just doesnt suit it at all.

O and for 40k thats a bloody great price considering all the extras you get with it.

blue steel suits the GT to a tee!!

Spewing, I got my new VRX (05 plated) with fleet discount for around $ 37K. Now you can pick up a series 2 with leather for around $ 38K retail. As for the GT for $ 34000, I new I should have waited. Amazing what has happened in the 2 weeks I've had mine.

The continuing story unfolds......today, the dealer rang me to say that they don't have a new '05-build Storm Grey 380GT, however they could get a red (Molten) one for me.

The only other alternative was to get a '06-plated 380GT in Storm, but has done 500km. Apparently driven by the dealership's accountant, but that's what they say - who knows it could have been used for 500 hard km's of test-driving by every man and his dog.

While they have maintained the same price for both cars, I lean toward the grey '06 GT for 2 reasons :

1. It is my preferred colour, and
2. It's an '06-build, which is better than an '05.

I reckon 500km is not much, and everything should be almost new anyway.

Yeh mate go the 06 model, 500km? lol theres a week of driving. Basically new mate. And who cares if its been flogged, 5/10 year warranty ;).
06 plated will be worth more than an 05 plated.

Not sure about the rebate - havent heard anything yet. My wifes uncle was the fleet manager, so I may get in contact with him. Done 2800km now (2 weeks) and is just starting to loosen up.

Mate get the '06 model. In the long run it will be worth more as it is an '06 plated and it will still be considered a one owner car and have MMAL's class leading warranty.

Especially considering it's in your colour I reckon go for it! Let me know how ya go.

Yes, went down after work today to have a look at my actual car.
First time I've seen a GT in storm, and it looked sensational.

Done 409km, which was under the dealer's original estimate of 500km.

Finance has settled, so delivery should be early next week, but I'm not going to jinx myself by saying that!!

Looking forward though

Yes, I will definitely be taking very good care of it.

Still got my KH to try and sell, so the new GT (when it arrives) will be locked up day and night!

Congrats on the purchase mate.

And dont be worried about the k's on the car. The whole running the engine thing in is not really all that important anymore.

And its better to have it run in hard (to increase the chances the the pistons have sealed and embedded properly) than run it in like a grandpa..

Youve also got a 5/10 warranty.. who cares how the car has been run in!

spot on baino! best way to run in a car is apparently easy launch in 1st, then flat the rest of the way, repeat :D

congrats on the purchase! pity the GT only came in auto, coz the rest of the package it perfect!

sounds like you are rapt with the car... you know its funny you always hear about the bad things when it comes to dalerships... sounds like you have had a pretty good experience... you should let people know where you are buying from and give a good recomendation to anyone else that is looking to buy a car....

we had a storm GT at work the other week, and the bonnet on it had the worst paint job on it ever.. under flourescent(sp) lights, it looked really, really patchy, almost as if their spray gun was running out of paint..

ever since i saw that one, i havent liked the storm colour...

Molten for teh win!

congrats on the purchase too, you wont be disappointed:thumbsup:

Finally collected my 380GT this morning.

It is an absolute pleasure to drive, and I can't fault it. Supremely quiet, handles cleanly, and loads of low-end torque. Transmission is willing to pull away from as low as 1100rpm in 4th (40km/h) and 5th (60km/h). I think it is learning my relaxed driving style and upshifting early.

Apart from that fact that my right-side fog lamp doesn't work! I'll have to ring the dealer tomorrow.
