Yep just when you thought Mitsubishi's marketing team couldn't get any worse, guess what? The series 2 380 will be $27,990 and have the same features essentially as the 380 series 1. If you read the car section of the Sunday Times you will see the article about this. The profit margins on selling a new car like that for $27,990 would be very lousy.

Not just that but to protect the people who paid $35,500 for a brand new 380, $7500 MORE than what the series 2 will be worth brand new, Mitsubishi have agreed to reimburse 380 series 1 owners with $1000 - $2000... wtf were they thinking? So now the 380 series 2 will be worth $27,990 brand new AND they are going to give away $1,000 - $2000 to 380 Series 1 owners because they got stooged, AND they are offering a 5 - 10 year warranty.

I personally think Mitsubishi know they are going to go broke and are just trying to clear out as many cars as possible now. I don't think this sort of behaviour is normal if you intend on keeping business, because if you were unsure before, you know now, that there's no way Mitsubishi can recover from this and their reputation now. Once you drop prices, you can't increase them unless you make a vastly different car. They will be a very cheap brand now.

Sorry but I didn't see any threads about the series 2 380 under "new posts". Seeing as I'm too busy and only go on these forums twice a week, I only ever look at the new posts. You can delete this thread if you want.

Spot on VP Vanquish. Mitsubishi Australia are going down the ****hole, and dragging everyone with a magna down with it. Every time they cut $1000 off a new car, it takes $1000 off your second hand one, if not more. It was funny to see the old mitsubishi boss jump ship before the 380 release. That prick should have gone down with the ship!

If you havn't realised most of the base model 380's were selling for $30k anyway. They've now dropped the price $2k below this because they know that more people would be willing to purchase the 380 at this price. Considering this will increase the amount of cars they will be making it will probably prove to be a wise descision; just wait and see.

I don't know wtf is wrong with you, are you blind or something? There is endless threads on this just below this pointless one you posted. I don't care if you only come on here twice a week, it's not that hard to scroll down a page--infact, considering there new threads you wouldn't even have to scroll down! :P ).

And about MMAL going broke... think again. The paper states Mitsubishi can make a profit on the 380 by building 75 of them a day. Considering they have significantly less number of people working their now they can effectively build to demand; and, once this demand increases they have enough employees that they can negotiate with or possibly re-hire.

The new RRP pricing means nothing about a brand having a cheap image. If they got a base model falcon and a base model commodore you'd be paying $6k more for it and the base model 380 (which costs $6k less) sh*ts all over them. This pricing on the base model will push people to purchase a new car if they'd recently been looking at ones that costed $35k and encourage fleet buyers to buy the 380 as they are likely to lose less on resale when they sell the car as it is priced according to the market's demand. If MMAL dealers can be instructed to point out to buyers the features the 380 has over the base model commondore and falcon along with the build quality of the 380 compared to the other two it would make buyers realise they are getting a bargain. By getting people into the showrooms to look at the cheaper base model is good, because once people are in their showrooms the salesman can talk them into getting the SX, which has the SI VRX seats, a better dash (integrated stereo), better stereo and looks a hundred times better from the front end.

P.S. > Change that awful display picture; it has to be the ugliest Holden they ever made. What was the point in re-inventing it? Please change it to a Wheels shot of the VE or something, it least that way it would look half-decent.

Just having a quick look through the Wheels magazine price lists i have noted that a Hyundai Sonata V6 is $29,990. A Toyota Camry Altise V6 is $32,000. A Commodore Exec is $33,650 and a Falcon XT is $35,880. These are just a few examples of some different cars that the 380 is aimed at. Now if you are to look at the value for money that the 380 offers in the way of equipment, power, comfort, handling and build qualilty then the 380 stands way above these other cars. What Mitsu are trying to acheive is a car that offers value for money. I think that other manufacturers will have to take a lond hard look at their pricing strategies. Tell me, do you think a Commodore Exec at $33,650 is a $6000 (or $4000 if you choose the auto 380) better car than the 380? I think not. If my money were talking i know what i would buy. Period.

Going on that same theory, im a busy person myself. And its real annoying when people dont take the time to look for new posts rather than just assuming you have first hand information that no one else in the entire world has.

In future, dont be a lazy twat. Look before posting.
