Hi everyone, I reset the ECU today to try and cure a flat spot and now it's idling around 1200 rpm. I removed the negative terminal when i did this and let the car sit for half an hour. Have i done anything wrong? The car still feels strong when i drive it but it's idling high...

this is the first sign that your engine is going to blow up!!!!

nah not really. it should go back to normal after a bit of driving? if not... then i have no idea

Detach your battery again dave......I had that once...after i disconnected the battery again (and left it for 15 min) it was ok.
Apart from that I too think that your car will blow up soon....

Good luck.

take the car for a drive, then let it sit and adjust the idle screw by turning it clockwise until the revs drop to abouit 800rpm

I had a high idle too but that was because i played with the idle right after connecting the battery up again, u have take the car for a drive a let it sit , it has to re-learn

Which one exactly is the idle screw? I dont usually like touching anything to do with T/B's. The idle was fine before i cleaned the T/B (and developed that flat spot) this is why i decided to reset the ECU. But it hasnt worked!

Ah so you did touch the throttle body after all. Look for a post from jenny01 there are pics of the throttle body and the screw in question. I would post the link but my bandwith sucks at the moment and its taking ages to load pages. Clockwise will drop the idle speed anti clockwise increases it. There will be a black plastic cap where its located just remove that and shove a screwdriver in there and adjust to your liking. Should take you about 30 seconds to do it.

Here you go here is the link. Note your throttle body is on the opposite end of the manifold.
this is for a 3.0 litre. http://aussiemagna.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=21582&d=1146349186

Thats my throttle body :) u like??? haha jk. I was having issues with my idling after I tuned my car. I adjusted the idle and it has been fine. It was stalling on me everytime I turned the wheel all the way, and when I started it, if it was warmed up already. I adjusted the idle....it was real simple...and it seemed to solve my problem....good luck!
