Ok, I've been looking around the net and came across this advert for a SI 380VRX for sale.

Click Here (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.dealer_vehicle?vehicle_id=3057065&current_rec=26&total_rec=80&sort_type=3&make_id=3&model_id=5100&search_distance=25)

Strangely enough I found this in the comments regarding the vehicle:
Brand new car demonstrator with delivery ks only.
One of a kind 180kW engine in stunning Electro Blue duco with electic sunroof.
Suit new car buyers and includes 5/10 Mitsubishi warranty balance and 5 year roadside assistance.
Free full tank of fuel internet buyers offer applies to this vehicle (conditions apply)

Hmm.. isn't that interesting... the same power output as the NZ version of the VRX/GT models. Why would this be and would the dealers be removing that thing that made the Aus versions of these versions emmissions more stringent or something? I mean I know it's only 5kw, but alteast it gives the sport models greater power then the others. Strangely enough this isn't the first 380 that has this engine power from SA. I'm suspecting their both from the same dealer in SA (the last one is sold now, it was an adrenaline VRX).

That is interesting. I was reading yesterday somewhere (can't remember where) that to get the 190kW version of the engine only requires a freer flowing exhaust system. SO can you imagine when MMAL actually pull their finger out and give the 380VRX/GT a freer flowing exhaust system, high flow muffler, better setup induction and maybe even fiddle with the cam profiles and ECU a bit. You'd think 200kW would be easily attainable.

So really it isn't that costly for them to do this. If they did do it and kept RRP prices the same then the 380VRX/GT (in terms of power) could be more evenly compared with the SV6 and the XR6 (well it's already on par with the current XR6); In fact it would be a more powerful car then these two models.

If MMAL did do it I think that they would be suprised as to how many people would actually by the VRX/GT over other cars. I mean if you can get a brand new VRX (manual) for $36,990 with Leather, Colour screen in dash, 6-stack CD, and other features such as ECM why would you even bother to look at a SV6 (brand new..in manual form)?

So yeah, if MMAL played it smart and hurried along with this engine upgrade, then the 380 really would sh*t all over the competition :D

They'd better get a move on though. Now that Mr McEniry has stated that the "190kW VRX" will not be seen until early next year (watch for a Melbourne Motor Show debut in Feb),
MMAL must ensure that the 380 can offer buyers something that neither Aurion nor VE can offer, so as to win new customers.

A lower price is all well and good, and certainly will worry Toyota and Holden, but it needs more to REALLY compete...

 i want AWD, and I want it now!

Difference between australian and new zealand models is a more restrictive air intake. Free it up, and you have yourself another 5kw! (even with the cardboard filter!! lol )
