Anyone know if the tacho expects a 12V or 5V signal?
I'm trying to work out why my tacho isn't working.. the signal wire is hooked up to an output from my E6X which is delivering a bonafide RPM signal (checked with multimeter), but the tacho still no worky. I have the option of toggling between 12V and 5V in the ECU software. It's currently set to 12V, so if it was meant to be 5V it's probably gone bang by now.
as a guess, on a magna, it woul be 5v, as that is what the engine speed sensor puts out, is the tacho wired straight to the Engine speed sensor, or does the tacho recieve its signal from the ECU. if it gets the signal through the ECU, then it may be 12v
did u try getting the tach adaptor through rocket industries ??
ive been too busy to get mine yet

No, not yet, but I did look it up. Having trouble working out exactly what it does besides "making the signal from most after market ECUs compatible with factory tachometers". It's an option tho.

i was actually lookin at putting one of these in, until i seen the price tage of $1500 might just stick to the tacho adaptor haha
it plugs straight into the E11 units, not the e6x though u just have to wire up manually wat u want shown on the screen.
Going on past experiences with other cars (and my current one), its usually a 5 volt signal..

:( Thanks Bain. Looks like I might have to rip the dash apart and see if the motor's blown up then.
