Thanx a sh^tload for this one. After reading it, I feel that MMAL do have a future.

Something really got my heart racing. I'm referring to page 3..."MITSUBISHI is expected to unveil a 190kW
version of the 380 VRX large sports sedan at the
Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in
Sydney in October."

YES! YES! YES! This will really add some attitude to the 380. Bloody awsome descision for the 380 on Mitsu's part... Excellent..... So 2006 is the year the fun begins :badgrin:

And that new Outlander on page 4 has to be the bloody hottest SUV I've seen in a long while :P

AND OMG... if that the next gen Lancer comes out next year then Mitsubishi should be aiming for more like 80,000+ sales a year by the year 2008.

Good news but I wouldn't get that excited over it. It's only what the VRX should've been when it was first released. At least now we know they weren't saving the 190kW version for the Ralliart.
Still need a proper hero car, boosted AWD Ralliart. A 4-banger version wouldn't hurt either.
I don't get how they think they've positioned the car between the Mazda6 and Commodore. Right now in consumers' minds the 380 is positioned in the middle of nowhere. They really need to step up with the marketing.

I completely agree with this, but at least they're fixing their problems, not just putting their heads in the sand. Personally I think that they should be putting a MIVEC head onto all of the higher spec cars (I'm pretty sure that there is one developed for the 3.8L) as they would have better power but also better efficiency, and that is the biggest factor. They also need to make more safety features as standard. I'm not sure what the 380 safety rating is at the moment, but if they make it better than the commodores/falcons along with a better fuel economy then they would have a MASSIVE marketing feature there.

Only 190kW :doubt: They got 199kW outta the 3L MIVEC :doh:
I guess there'd be more torque than the 3L though and it probably has to meet stricter emissions standards, but still, that's a bit dissapointing :(

Oh and those headlights in the second post are disgusting:sick:

true.. if you look at what some others are doin.. the aurion will put out more than 190 out of a 3.5? the maxima puts good numbers out a 3.5 and the accord with a 3.0

But I still think what they need is a 210kW VR-X & a 250kW RalliArt..

Now you've got some weapons.. Willing to play chicken with the likes of HSVs n FPVs..

I think you'll find that the 190kW figure is a tad conservative. I'd expect that by the time we see this "MIVEC" (:confused:) engine (early next year) you'd be talking more like 196-197kW or thereabouts. Here's hoping!:P

That would be great! Can't wait till I go to bed tonight!:P :shifty: But alas, MMAL have conceded that 190-200kW is the limit that 380's FWD chassis can take. Anymore and you'd have to go AWD, and we all know how far along that is.:doubt:

(PS- Anyone hear the official Aurion power figure yet? Read somewhere it'll be 192kW)

If MMAL could atleast make this kind of audio visual system set up an option on the 380 it would stop the SatNav system mucking up the look of the centre column of the dash and give it a BMW like set up.

If this was standard on the GT for example (if the price went up) then it would create some differentiation between the VRX and the GT.
