As posted in an earlier Thread, I had some engine drama this week..... Car would turn over but would not start... So after a few nice words and a check with the ever trusty computer we discovered the Crank Angle Sensor in the Distributor was stuffed... So on the the phone i go ring all my suppliers and no one has a CAS... So I Ring Mitsubishi and they Quote me $ 1300 Trade for the Distributor and tell me that you can't buy the CAS seperate...:rocket: Now after a long talk with the Guy from mitsubishi to discuss if this price is because they didn't get the sales they were hoping for from the 380, I check with a few auto elec's in the area and have found that in the last week 5 other TE/KE magna's have suffered this problem...:( So I now have a new Distributor on its way(non genuine) for around $680....

So if you own a TE/KE and so on Just be mindful that it may go at any time like mine did...

The workshop manual says the CAS is mounted down near the crankshaft - not in the dist. Could they mean the TDC sensor?
Let us know how you go with it.

I'm with Barry. According to Mitsu naming, the crank angle sensor is on the drivers side near the bottom under a cover next to the timing marks. The one in the distributor is the top dead centre sensor. Don't get the wrong one.
