if its a round one im positive they are the wrong type for the magna's.
you need a special oval shaped one that is designed for the MAF sensor.
Usually the round ones play tricks with the MAF....although someone will explain it better:D

your right Paul. the round ones are not ment for magnas. u need an oval type. the round one sucks the air and and the air spirlas through the pipe and the MAF thinks no air is comming in and the oval pod gets the air commin in straight. i think thats it but ye u need a oval pod.

TE or TF - but don't get confused by all the stuff in the engine bay - most of it is aftermarket :bowrofl: .
It's just there to show you what the Mitsubishi MAF sensor specific K&N oval Pod filters look like.
Also - when someone refers to a pod being boxed, or in a box - they are generally refering to a box or enclosure located in the engine bay, in which the pod filter in located. The reason for this is to stop the pod sucking in hot air from within the engine bay.

Post a pic of the adapter. You must be careful cause Autobarn sell an adapter where it blocks most of the maf's airflow. I found this out the hardway. (Took it back no questions) Repco sell one that is designed differently which is more open so it doesnt cover up any of the maf. Costs about 35-40bucks from what i remember. This will allow you to run a round pod filter. I think it has a 4inch diameter neck on it. I have found that the round ones do work without any adverse affect. I beleive its all in the adapter.
Best thing to do is post a pic of the MAF with the adapter installed we will be able to determine if you are running the correct adapter.

I must need glasses but where is the air-flow sensor in the photo of Meh's engine bay? The engine will run rather strangely without it!!!

He took it out and now he's getting about 230 odd hp at the wheels. Just from removing the MAF sensor!!!!!
:bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl:
j/ks....... he's running a haltech full replacement ECU - hence, no mitsi MAF needed. There's plenty of info about what he's done to his car - do a search if you wanna know more.

I've been running a round pod for the last 12 months without a problem. But my pod has a 4.5 inch opening, and the adaptor doesn't block any of the maf.
To be able to fit a 3inch pod on, the maf adaptor covers half the maf, and i think thats where the problem is with running round pods.
my 2 cents

yeah but an oval pod is much bigger anyway, allowing for potentially more air-flow.

my guess is that no-one has the part no. for the adaptor that allows for round pods?

Didnt make a note of the PN no but definetly go to Repco they had a few when i went. My guess is other repco stores should have them as well. I think their suitable for the BMW's as well.

i posted earlier in this thread the pod's being sold for abt $150 by megatron.
These are the Oval ones, and come with the adaptor plate, and just bolt on with slightly longer screws.
I love my Pod, it's turned my car from a docile puppy to bull-terrier with an attitude problem:D
