Just saw this before on CAA, bloody nice and neat install.

I have no idea why i did'nt go for a practical and functionall boot layout!

But that is nice!

I kept telling you that the ported box would be way too big, but you didn't listen :P

Very nice system Fats, I like the way you laid it out behind the board. Crossovers done in an interesting way, well done.

I'd have to say that the Morels are a better speaker than the Focals, although a tiny bit more expensive. You think that you get more than the value of the $80 or so extra?

I find the Focals a bit funny to my ears also, but then again I don't think they are as suited to my kind of music. If I was buying Morel, I think I would have to go the whole hog.... Elate 9's with supremo tweet, use the std tweet as an ambient.

I am coming over Adelaide way in January next year, hopefully we can meet up and I can have a listen.

yeah definately worth heaps more than the $80 extra. You have to remember how much the morel stuff has come down in price recently. They used to be much more than $500.

wow, and i was worrying that my preboxed Mtx sledgehammer wasnt going to look any good in my boot, youve proved the beauty board idea makes all the difference :D

so tell me one thing, how is the board secured? did u screw the sub into the board and box together?

It just sits there actually, quite securly too. the sub surround has a tiny lip and the hole just clips over that. I was originaly just going to use some velcro, but george did such a perfect job on the hole that it isnt needed.

When it first went in I was driving like an idiot to try and make the board come off, but It wouldnt.

You're install looks awesome - well done.

Does the beauty board vibrate much when the sub is thumping away? I assume you used mdf , what thickness?

No it doesnt seem to vibrate. Along the bottem of the sub the board can flex a bit, but no problems as yet. If I do have any probs I will just get the velcro out.

Its 3mm MDF, 6mm might be better but it mould not fit behind the torsion (??) bars going across under the parcel shelf (you know, the ones going just under the 6x9's). I am thinking of putting some bracing but it realy isnt necessary.

Cool, the next step towards achieving my dolby setup is installing the subs. Had planned on having 2x 12-inch Eclipse subs in an enclosure behind a "beauty board" very similar to your setup.

I think I will be moving my tweeters to the A piller now. Its a pity because they were so well hidden before. I might have to do some colour coding.

I have new pics in my CAA thread if anyone wants to see where I will be putting them.
