Hi all I have just bought a 91 Verada KR ei V6 auto (173,000kms)

the auto does not seem to go into overdrive/4th gear?
plus at/mode button does not do anything either?

so Im sitting on the freeway at 100kmh on 3300rpm

oil is good, I can only see one fuse under the dash and its good, Hold button works

Thanks
Travis

Transmission problem for sure.
Get it checked out, you might need a reconditioned box.

How much did you buy the car for?

Well done.

Get it checked out by an automatic transmission specialist, use yellow pages online.

After that's fixed, get some parabolic lights and a new grille :D

do a search on these forums. i recall a thread or 2 on this exact problem. from memory it wasn't a wallet crushing problem, but i don't think it was DIY either.

I got the ECU error code checked today and it was all good

but my mechanic was suprised that the car data logged ( eg,volts,rpm,tps,isc,02,etc etc)
he thought it was to old

he is going to send me to this auto trans guy he knows and will tell me the truth this Sat

Woohoo!
Looks like you're getting somewhere now :)

Let us know what happens and how much it costs eh?
Hopefully, it doesn't cost more than a few hundred.

My magna had the same problem and I took it to a transmission place and it cost me about $450 for a service, O/D fix and a new (wreckers) O/D switch to be soldered with old wiring. From what I remember it was 250ish for the O/D fix.
