Im surprised there isnt a thread on the new model introduced for the series 2 380's, the 380SX. I did a search and its hardly been mentioned.

I think its the best looking 380 thus far! Its essentially a VRX without the tacky rear lights!
$32990 for one in manual, good value i reckon!

I'm hoping they sell well, in much the same way that Fords XR6 non-turbo sells well (you see them everywhere). Obviously it will never be to the same extent though.

But yeh, it would be the model i would choose if i was buying a 380.

Yeah, you're right in saying it's selling well. I spoke to a Mitsu rep at Agostino Mitsubishi and he said that some dealers had back-orders on the 380SX.

As for value, nothing surpasses it. An SV6 is like $40k and has sh^tty seats, no 6-stack and an unrefined engine with a dull front end. The front end of the 380SX looks good because it has a good grill, the 17's on the SX also look the peice and the back end looks alright too.

As for looks though, I still reckon that the lights on the VRX/GT look better, but it's up to open opinion and the base model/SX lights don't look as bad as some people say.

If I was to get a new car soon the 380SX would definetely would be worth a look.

there was a lot of talk about the sx in the days after it was released.

when comparing it to something like the SV6 it is amazing value and price point cant be underestimated in the aussie built large car segment

Agreed totally. I reckon these buggers will hold there resale as well. They will be sought after on the second hand market because of what they offer for the $$$.

Yeah you're not wrong there. The 380SX will hold their resale and will play hard to get for dealership demo models. For what you get for the price there is no other Australian built car that even comes close.

Yep, gotta agree. If I had a lazy $35k floating around, I'd go for the SX.

:stoopid:

also doesnt help working at a mitsu dealership.. i see them everyday/drive one nearly every day.. yes, nice car.. but im over it:doubt:

edit* we got a black SX in today.. its just a S1 VRX with base model tail lights/spoiler.. VRX/GT lights look better..

also, S2 VRX now has leather standard.. w00t.. but on the other hand, the GT has no sunroof standard so these models are basically identical except for the wheels and the chrome door stripping on the GT

Learn english. I find reading these threads very informative and the indepth conversations that happen in here are scintilating for me to read and provide me with a wealth of information about the 380 and the motoring industry as a whole. I look forward to reading new replies in the 380 section more than any other, but when there starts to be drivvle in here is when things go pear shaped. So i'll remind you that if you have nothing constructive to add to the topic, simply don't type in this thread.

If people are so over the 380 then why bother to read and post in the 380 section???

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that the main topic of discussion in the Mitsubishi 380 section of AMC was, in fact, the Mitsubishi 380...

My left-of-centre instinct also tells me that this site is designed for those who share a common interest and passion in all things Mitsubishi, and the current triple-diamond-branded model being built in Adelaide.

Just my 2 cents, so please forgive me if this makes no sense at all, and I'll start discussing trees and how we need them to save the earth etc.:doubt:

There's a website out there called "Mitsubishi Sucks" (don't have the link) where some moron, possibly a sacked employee, makes it his prerogative to denigrate all things Mitsubishi. This site may better tickle your fancy EGO...

THIS MORON MUST BE DESTROYED, POST HASTE!:uzi:

Here's a trivia/l question...

How many times in history has a car manufacturer released an SX model?

I don't know the answer, but I reckon they'd be hotter sellers than any other.;)

haha, my Dad pricked up his ears and said "SX?" when he saw the ad for the 380SX, and i knew what he was thinking :doubt:

I know a chick who owns a Barina SXi and she refuses to call it a Barina. "It's an SXi, not a Barina!" lol

i personaly love the SX coz it doesnt have the ugly VRX/GT lights, i hate those lights with a passion, cant say i like the base model 380 rear lights much either but they are definately better

if i could afford a 380 it would be the 380SX in black, then i would just need enuff money to dump it and put 21's on it :D

I've been getting a bit more used to the 380 styling. It'll still take some time before I can say I like it totally, but I can say black and that dark grey are DEFINITELY the 380's colours of choice.

I agree. I've seen a few GT's in the black and storm and they look bloody hot.

Oh one more thing about a difference between SI and SII, did anyone notice that instead of saying 380GT, 380LX, 380ES, 380SX, 380VRX on the right handside pillar (below the taillight) it now says 380 on the left pillar (below the tail light), with a Series II badge under it, and the code GT, LX, ES, SX or VRX appears on the right pillar.

I was thinking why would they bother to change something like that? But I take it was to make SII look a bit different at the back incase a SI and SII were at the lights next to each other so people could tell the difference and just to create some diffentiation between the two.
