Ok guys

I know there has been a lot of discussion on the idle issues with the TH/KH series and above.
My KH Verada is annoying me like hell (118k).

So can anyone tell me what works and what doesn't?

Do I adjust the idle, replace Engine Mounts (which one?) Has anyone tried something and had some results?

The KH has smaller engine mounts than the KJ with the exception of the top right one. I changed mine to the KJ ones with significant improvement in idle. Cheers

Hi Monkey KH XI

Are you suggesting I replace the rear mount, front mount and left hand side one? Did you use genuine ones and was it an easy job to do? Also what was the cost?

thanks

The KJ mounts are significantly wider, you will need to change both parts of the mount, (the bracket and the mount) as the KH brackets arent wide enough to fit the KJ mounts. I bought all the bits from Chadstone mitsubishi for around $500 a year ago. It sounds steep I know but its well worth it. It took me about 3 hours to change all the mounts and you will need an engine hoist to do it easily.

Here is my solution:

I got a chip from ebay - it goes between oxygen sensor and ECU. It set me back 60 bucks delivered. What it does is basically give back the engine its normal (higher) performance at the expense of emission values. - We all know that engines are down-tuned to meet certain emmission requirements that vary from nation to nation.
After it was connected to my car, the idle was as smooth as it can be....no more rev-changing every 30 secs....no more roughness...just a smooth idle at 700rpm... as a V6 should be.

When I removed the sensor again, the engine ran rough...so it is DEFINATELY working for my car. According to the manufacturer there is also a gain in HP (about 10). I feel as if I notice it, but my last performance at Heathcote certainly did not proove this. Once I Dyno my car I can verify this by running with and without the chip.

I also fitted an adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator last weekend (well...Rhino did) - that damn thing makes one hell of a difference in my car! If turned to 80psi the car goes wild....I love it! Again - I will verify this at Calder and post the result (running with normal fuel pressure and then running with 80psi).

Hope it helped!

I didnt feel comfortable with 80 psi...after all.....the fuel lines remained untouched.

Oh well....as said...in every day use I drive at 20psi/idle!

Chantra those chips can damage your engine! They can make your car run rich/lean, forget which one. Anyway it can damage the motor, be careful.

I know what u mean....but I am sure about this manufacturer, mate. Have had his "Chips" before on other cars - never had a problem.....Thanks, though!
