Has anyone done this mod?
That's the way I am looking at the problem of getting more cool air into the motor.
I am no good a designing stuff but I am seeing a air ram build into the bonnet with a good seal so only air will find it's way under the bonnet.
From a looks point of view I would ideally like two scoops, one scoop on the side is not something I would like. I am more of a either one scoop in the middle or two (one on each side of the bonnet) type of person.
From a drivers point of view I would like them low so that they don't impede the vision out the front, this would also help keep the cops from getting too stressed out about having "modifications" on your vehicle.

Just had another look at the stock set up, what a stupid design. It seems that MMA are more worried about keeping the engine bay clean than providing air to the motor.
Anyway as a cheap and simple temporary solution I have thought about cutting away part of the first sealing strip in front of the air intake. From what I can see it should be straight forward, cut just near where the strip attaches to the bonnet with those little clips and the air flow should be improved.
What is the consensus on this? Anyone done this? What would be the negatives? What about noise, would there be a whistling? Am I better off to take the whole sealing strip off?

Do a search, someone has done it already.

A bit of an update, I did cut the front bonnet strip and also removed the plastic cover that fits above the radiator.
Positives: Motor revs more freely and less hunting for gears.
Negatives: Fuel consumption goes way down.
As this is primarily a family taxi I put everything back to stock because fuel consumption is more important than driveability.
So to sum up, if you want a cheap performance mod and are not worried too much about the price of go juice then this is definatley worth doing.
I guess strangling the air flow to the motor is one of the ways Mitsi has got good fuel econmy out of the V6.

The reason fuel consumption is way down because it revs more freely and sounds better so you step on it harder.

Could also be that the air is cooler and the ecu is putting more fuel in. I know that most of those +10HP pieces of crap from ebay just change the signal from the air temp meter to the ECU making the ecu think that the air is cooler, making the ecu add more fuel.
