hi guys,

recently did a manual conversion, put a whole new clutch and thrust bearing in, also ripped apart the gearbox and replace the diff and output shaft bearings.

on release of the clutch pedal it makes a tsskk tsssk tsssk sound, when the clutch pedal is fully in there is no noise and when the clutch is fully out you can hear a faint tsssk tsssk tsssk sound (only faint), push the clutch in again and it stops until you start releasing the clutch and it starts making the noise.

we drove the car and the clutch seems fine...doesnt slip, goes fricken hard.

we didnt replace the input shaft bearings as they looked ok at the time.

what are peoples thoughts? please only reply if you have real knowledge of the situation and not taking a wild guess

Dave

Is it adjustable or is it hydraulic?Havent dealt with magna clutches before but I would also be looking at if there is clearence between the pressure plate and the thrust bearing when there is no pressure on the pedal.:)

thanks guys

we ended up pullin the box out....as we originally thought it was the thrust bearing but there is no sound when you press the clutch fully in

this is why we thought it was the input shaft bearings as when you fully press the clutch in the input shaft is deactivated from the clutch im pretty sure

i also am a bit stressed as we looked at the gearbox drain plug and there seems to be lots of shavings on it...it has to be new shavings as we cleaned the box thoroughly before we raplaced the original bearings and we would have noticed the sump plug with lots of shavings before

Have had this before but not on a magna the thrust bearing makes no noise under full load but with no load it is noisy. You put in a new thrust bearing though so it should be a return job would nt it??:)
When you put your foot on the clutch the input shaft and clutchplate disengage from the clamping force of the pressure plate and the flywheel the input shaft bearing would spin at this point and would be rotating at the same revolutions as the flywheel clutch assembly when your foot is not on the clutch so if it was your input shaft bearing I would expect it to make the noise when your foot is right down on the clutch.;)
