Hye guys

My back left tyre keeps losing pressure a lot. About two weeks ago i put in 36 on all 4.

(Got the GII at the back (TJ VRX 17'))

Yesterday, checked the pressure again and the back was 22psi !!!. I'm assuming its puncture. Called up some places ahd got quoted for $310 for 1 GIII's. Is that the normal price. That was at beaurepaires.

Anywayz is it safe to repair the tyre and how long will it last?

Can i do long trips?

Have you check that it wasn't the rim that causing the loss of air? Sometimes it just happens, but if it was the tire just change the tyre. Not worth trying to repair a tyre.

Ok lets assume it is the rim...Can it be repaired??

The tyre still has thread on it and i don't have $300 at the moment....

Will have to let others answer this one, I have no rims. lol But if it can be repaired and going to cost you, then first off check the difference in replacing one vs repairing one. And if you really low on cash, use your spare wheel, may look ugly but still is better than a damaged wheel.

If the puncture is a clean one from like a nail, it will only cost about $20-$30 to repair. I have done this once and had no problems. :P

they can even repair slow leaks, but it would most prob be a nail
coast around $20

Not normal price, and if you replace just one then really you should replace it's corresponding partner as well.

G3s retail from 225-285 in Sydney. Try bob jane.

Also, consider another brand of tyre, you can get Falken Ziex 329 225/50R17 for $179 each.

With my boys im always running ova some dam thing. I've had nail etc holes repaired many times with no problems at all. Look around the tread for the culprit but dont remove it (the tyre will go flat fast if you do), just show it to the tyre guy. About $30

It could be leaking around the bead, take the wheel off, lay it on its side on the ground and run a little water around where the tyre meets the rim. If theres lots of bubbles the tyre just need to be taken off, the rim buffed on a wire wheel and put back on. This is far more common on steel rims than mags. About $30 - 50

Far more common is the valve is leaking. Run a bit off water around the valve stem with the valve at the bottom of the wheel. Move the valve a little from side to side to see if air is coming out. If the valve body leaks, bubbles with be obvious. To change it is about $20 - 40

And the easiest check of all, and the grossest for the girls, take a bit of spit (not snot :D ) on the end of your finger and put it on the end of the valve (with the cap off). It should form a seal across the top. If it blows up into a bubble or is blown off (give it a couple of tries ) the valve is leaking. It could be loose or need replacing, either way most good tyre places wont charge for it.

Hope that helps. :D

Or if your mouth is dry, use a spray bottle - fill with water + 1 spoonful of dish detergent.

Probably won't be a nail puncture, otherwise it'll be totally flat within a day or 2.
Definitely take the wheel off the car and roll it to inspect every inch of tread.

If your tyre is still pretty good tread, could try one of those aerosol cans of puncture repair.
I wouldn't use them on a real puncture, but they work great for these mysterious slow leaks,
especially for leaks at the bead or if your alloy wheels have gone porous (unlikely until old).
Don't even need to use whole can, half per tyre is enough.

Or bicycle shops sell bottles of "Mr Tuffy" gel, does same job but you need to have an
uninflated tyre... have done it before at the servo if you've got a valve opening tool.
Let down tyre, pump gel in, reinflate... 5 min job.

All the times we've done it, its lasted for the remaining life of that tyre.

I've reached my thread limit. Beaurepaires won't fix it, neither will bridgestone. No money atm for new tyres. I keep checking it every week and putting air in. Will that affect the rest of the car?

Does anyone know a 'mate' that can fix that damn thing for me. Its only one tyre....

did they say why? or are they just trying to scam some money outta u... depends what the inside of the tyre is like... if its wearing from the inside coz its going flat (mine did that before i got my rims) then the tyre is effectivly rooted...
