Hey guys, i've currently got an avalanche 800w max amp and a boss audio 1200w max amp. Now i'm planning on buying a new amp for my speakers, but i saw this one and it says 300wrms x 2 when bridged. This is perfect for my subs as well. So i'm thinking of maybe buying 2, 1 to run some 100w rms splits up front (thinking infinity) and some 130w rms 6x9's in the rear (hertz) and the other to run some 250wrms ea subs (mtx thunder 6000's).
What do people reckon of this new setup?
Response 4x100w amp

Power / Channel @ 4ohm 14.4V: 100WRMS x 4
Power / Channel @ 2ohm 14.4V: 150WRMS x 4

Sinal / Noise Ratio: >70dB
Low Pass Filter: 50 - 500Hz @ 12dB/octave
High Pass Filter: 50 - 500Hz @ 12dB/octave
Bass Boost: 0 - 18dB @ 45Hz

If you have the dual voice coil 4 ohm subs, consider getting the 2x150rms amp from jaycar instead they can be got for 200ish and deal out 500rms at 4 ohms.
I think you have listed the digital 4x100 amp which costs more and has less power, but is smaller in size.
Specifications:
Power / channel @ 4ohm 14.4V: 130WRMS x 4
Power / channel @ 2ohm 14.4V: 190WRMS x 4
Power / bridged @ 4ohm 14.4V: 380WRMS x 2
Signal/Noise ratio: >90dB
Input sensitivity: 200mV to 5V
Low pass filter: 50 - 500Hz @ 12dB/octave
High pass filter: 50 - 500Hz @ 12dB/octave
Pass thru RCA: Yes
Dimensions: 400(L) x 258(W) x 50mm(D)
These are the specs of the other 4x100 they sell. A mate has this in his car and we were quite deaf at less than half volume. They go quite loud thats for sure.

Both amps are great! I have 2 of the 2x150s and know a few people with the 4x100s and will be getting one myself eventually.
I would get the 4x100 for splits, and the 2x150 for a sub...

both subs are single voice coil 4 ohm subs. I was thinking the 2x150w amp, but if i can get 300w out of the 4 channel, wouldn't i be better off?
Well if you have 2 4ohm SVC subs you either need 2 2x150wrms amps or the 4x100wrms amp running the subs alone (or you could get the monoblock)
I would recommend getting either the 4x100wrms or the jaycar monobloc to run the subs and either the 2x80 or 2x150 to run the splits. Just run the 6x9's off the deck.

Sorry i didnt see you said 2 subs! In that case yeah... get the 4x100 for the subs (one sub off each bridges pair or channels) and then another one for the front and rear speakers! That way everything is amped off of 2 amps!

That's what i was thinking, would using these 2 amps sound better than the ones i have?
I was talking to my dad last night and he reckons a monoblock will usually sound better for subs because their power ratings are for lower frequencies as opposed to the full range amps. Though he said it depends on the full range amps ability to play bass.

Seeing as you have 2 x 4ohm subs, you could wire these in parralell(sp) with the jaycar monoblock to give you 350W (per sub @2ohm) of power, of course, with the gain turned down.
This will then let you be able to upgrade the subs at a later date to possibly as low as 1ohm and the amp will still be able to handle it.
No use getting 2 4channel amps as when is there ever going to be a time when your going to use the subwoofer amp to power another set of speakers?
So it's Worth getting the mono As this will be able to run longer at lower temperatures......and theres some other technical things about the monoblock's that i can't really remember well, Mitsi, Magnat, or Tim will be able to clarify on these.
But if your gonna outlay a few hundred for an amp...get the mono.

That is the better way to go (the mono block with subs in parallel) but i didnt suggest it as they Jaycar monoblock is quite a bit more expensive!
The Monoblock is D-class so its much more efficient in the power use during amplification.
So yeah if you have the money, 800W Mono for subs and 4x100 for the rest of your speakers.

This is from another seller but they still seem quite reputable

i'm abit worried running the 800wrms amp as my subs are only 250wrms each.

tis called gain leigh...gain;)
running @ 2ohm they are making 700WRMS or 350W per channel so urn the gain down about 1/4 and you'll be fine.
You always want an amp that can put out more then your subs, so that on full volume your amp isnt clipping, as it has been turned down;)

I thought running 4 ohm subs at 2 ohm can blow them?

looking off the JL website, if you wire them + from amp to + from sub, and - from amp to - off sub, and do this for both subs, it will present a 2ohm load.
mine are 2ohm + 2ohm = 4ohm and thats how ive wired mine..no probs so far

That monoblock can handle 4, 2 or 1 ohms. So no hassles there. Just if your voice coils are 4ohms each, dont wire them in series as that will give the amp a 8ohm load which it probably wont like.
It will like it just fine (8ohm). But it will only have half the output (compared to 4ohm).
M4DDOG, you seem a bit confused. "I thought running 4 ohm subs at 2 ohm can blow them?"
you dont run an impedance 'into' a sub. you wire the subs such that they show the amp a particular impedance. It is the amp that may be damaged by a mismatched impedance.
In your case, with 2 4ohm subs, you will probably wire it to present 2 ohms (in parallel). a jaycar monobloc is fine connected to 2ohms.
