Over the last 12 months the petrol prices have sky rocketed.
How does this influence your purchase on a V6 vehicle?
I love the design of the 380, when i saw it at the Sydney Motor show i wanted one but thought prices were abit streched. Now that the prices have been re-adjusted its makes the car more appealing specially against Holden and Fords.
I have kid on the way, i require a larger car but just the thought of paying $100 for a tank of petrol scares me. So i may opt for a Lancer wagon instead.
How fuel efficient is the 380?
and how much do you usually spend on a tank of petrol?
your feedback would be great since you are 380 owners.
cheers

Hopefully our 380 owners could field this one.
As for general comments, the aussie v6 large cars get a fairly respectable fuel economy for their weight and engine capacity. I think you might find that a fully loaded Lancer wagon would match or only be 1 or 2L/100 off what the 380 would deliver. Plus the 380 has the torque and power to drive comfortably in all conditions. I cant say much for the new lancer as I havent driven one yet.
Have a look at this site: http://www.greenvehicleguide.gov.au - it suggests 9.4L/100 average for the lancer and 11.4L/100 average for the 380.
So, lets say its roughly 2L/100 difference x avg fuel price for this year (lets say 1.35L) x 200 (being the average 00s that a car travels in one year)=potentially only a $540 difference per year
Ultimately, I'd actually suggest that you hire these cars/convince the dealer to give you one over the weekend to compare your driving habits to the fuel economy that each car is achieiving.
Hire cars would probably be better as new cars/demos tend to drink more fuel than a car with a few 000s under its belt.
For those of you wishing to comment and dont own a 380.. Please refrain from doing so.
You cant compare your car to the 380 as they are 2 different engines, weight and aerodynamics.
Leave this thread to owners of the 380, as has been requested from the OP.

According to my trip computer I am averaging between 10.8 and 11.4 per 100kms. On a recent trip to Sydney (im in Canberra) I was averaging 9.2 sitting on 115kays.
It is a 5 speed auto which according to figures is "supposed" to be on par if not slightly better than the manual.
I personaly am very happy with the economy I am receiving considering the power of the engine and the hefty weight of the vehicle. Then again, Ive just come out of a 5.7 SS Conformadore so anything would be better I guess.
I say go with the 380 and if you get a chance drive one forst, I guarantee you will be hooked. :bowrofl:
Good luck!!

thanks guys, i'll be doing a test drive in a couple of weeks time.
And see if it suit me and Mrs.
Fuel consumption figures are pretty good, but then again they are long trips eg. sydney to canberra and adelaide.
