hey if a 99TH magna sedan and i picked up my rims on friday. they are 18X8.5. jus now i parked next to a magna with 18's and noticed my wheels are flush with my guards and his is sitting a bit inside. does that mean i have the wrong offset? and if i do is that illigal and dangerous?

Thanks
Ash

Did the other car have 7, 8 or 8.5" width rims?

I have 18 x 8 and the front sits flush with the guard pretty much and the rear looks like it sits in a bit.

if it sits flush with the guard its fine.
Only problem is if it sits outside the guard. Thats defectable. Can be fixed with some VRX flares if your not dumped too low.

Choonga and I put 2 of my XR6 rims on his car (8inch wide) and they stuck out by about half inch.. Yet on "em for dee dog's" TJ the xr6 rims sit flush...

Might be a slight difference in hubs between models?

*edit* The pic you posted looks like they sit outside the guards..

its jus the bottom the looks like that coz the bottom on the bends in.... i think. u know wat i mean? like i put a ruler against the guard and the top of the wheel and its jus sticks out a weeee lil bit. is it dangerous? or unroadowrthy? u can't notice it when u see it but if u stare at it then u might tell

lol yeh mine sit perfectly. Though i have heard of another TH that had xr6 rims and they stuck out, he warned me but i tried them out anyway and they fit beautifully. So maybe the TJ had a slightly better offset to compensate for the wider VRX wheels bain?

Most tyre shops will fit Ford offset wheels to a magna.. there isnt really a drama untill you start getting bigger and lower.. My 20x8.5`s are BA offset as they didnt make my wheel for a magna.. with 245/35/20`s there is about 5mm of clearance on the inside to the strut tower and they are level with the front guards.. On the rear they are way under as the VRX has a narrower offset then the base models.. there is also 5mm between strut and tyre on the rear also, perfect fit.. 245`s all round too..:P

It is defectable yes. The wheels including rubber are not allowed to pertrude past the body of the car, so if you get flares or something you can get away with it.

235 can be 8 or 8.5 depending on how stretched to their limit they are..... did they looked stretched?

i was pulled over by a cop the day i bought my new car (wheels were sticking out about the same on my TR). I over heard the police talking about my wheels being illegal when they were checking my license. I was always polite though and when he returned he just said fix the wheels and have a nice day.
So, good luck .

Ive been pulled over with mine and they sit pretty much how yours are, the cops went right over the car and looked very closly at the wheels and only said they were to big (Cant go nemore than 2" bigger then standard) ive got 18s and standard was 15s.

They never said a thing about it sitting out side of the guard tho.
