Has anybody made covers for the driving lights? You know like the WRX STi style cover things? I reckon they'd look pretty sick.. Might be a tad ricey but still.. A nice lil add on.. Anyone really good at working with fibreglass? Make them clip onto the lil grill between the driving lights.. Then again.. Easier said then done.. :S
Opinions..?

See here's the problem KJ GTV what i can see from your avatar is you have fog lights. These are completely different from driving lights , with fog lights you dont just go around driving with them because they are extreemly annoying to anyone in in front of your car. They are used for weather conditions such as heavy rain or fog but not much else unless you are a ricer 8) same thing with wrx's

18-11-2003, 10:40 AM
widowmaker - why do you find them annoying?

i've seen plenty of cars with them on during the day - and if they're bright enough in the day - i think it looks quite good

driving lights are also bl**dy annoying when used in built up areas. Same
as highbeams. Don't people f****** look at their dash and see a little blue
light indicating that their highbeam is on (or noticed how bright cars infront
of them are????)

Both fog lights and driving lights are illegal to use unless the situation calls
for it.

Fog: heavy rain (I mean heavy rain) and fog and snow.
Driving lights: In the country or highway when no vehicle is less than 200
metres in front of you. This goes for highbeams as well.

Please obey the rule else you may cause someone to lose vision and crash
into you and killing you.

I agree with vlad

Driving around the suburbs (50km/h roads) IS DAMN HARD when you got pricks with their high beams or fog lights on..

Pisses me off.

Full stop!

IT may look cool but take heart to the poor sod: ME that is trying to drive blindly towards you!

Its a recipe for disaster!

well, i understand that some lights can be so bright that they become blinding to the oncoming traffic, but i also understand that there is no point having lights on the car that's not being used, so my conclusion is, if the lights are really too bright, from a subjective point of view, say stand 10 or 20 metres in front with your driving lights on and just ask yourself, are they pointing straight into my face and i can't see anything else? If so, I would just pitch them down towards the ground a bit more and have another look until they are not shinning directly into your eye kind thing.

I've got these diamond vision globes in my car, i know there are not supposed to be used for our roads, but hey, my lens are frosted and it prevents most of the light from going upwards and i have tested driving behind a friend and asked him for his opinion and i have done that little subjective test i mentioned above. It works out okay.

Oh, GaMiSou, I was driving behind you when we made that wrong turn going to Hastings, do you think my H4 lights are too bright? I didn't use my high beams at all that night, whereas everyone else used it. So it's kinda making me think twice, are my lights too bright? or are they just doing what they were supposed to do?

Cheers

Picky bugger

Also.. I noticed a small space on both the bottom and the top of the fog lights and maybe that may be a place to clip em.. Just wondering if anyones made some.. Would look aite if i dont say so myself..

Also.. Changing the whole topic of the thread now.. You reckon the smash repair dudes would be able to mod my grill like DVS's grill.. Whoever did it before DVS.. I'm sorry, I keep forgetting who you are.. credit to him too.. :D

Hey'all everyone, I've been a reader for some time as a guest and today actually bothered to sign up. I find this forum interesting - i don't own a magna but i used to have one - was a pretty great car and contemplating about getting one in the near future.

Something i noticed reading through all the posts today  above widow has mentioned about these fog lights being 'annoying', i personally don't have a problem with them - i think they look cool - wish i had them :? by that i mean foglights on sports cars and wateva but them yellow bright driving lite typa ones are annoying yes :!:

But wat i meant to say is window says it bothers him yet he was cutting that dude axle down for when he was talking about lights blinding/distracting/annoying people when you flash them to alert other drivers about cameras. Wats his story???

Sorry i just came from reading a few older posts from within the last week catching up and that contradiction stared me in the face.

Whats ya story widowmaker? yeah and sorry to hear about ya ticket man tough luck - but ya shouldn't of dun it lad - very dangerous dat stuff [-X unbroken lines are there for a reason =;

oh yeh and an intro for everyone, im male, live in rockhampton, aged 36 (getting on a bit) and drive a VT commodore ](*,) - and don't rag me out for that plz [-o<

g'day benji,

I think i like you already  yeah widow whats your story? first you argue with what i'm saying about flashing people not affecting anyone then you say your 'fragile' eyes are annoyed by sport cars fog lights???

Mmmm anyway, i thought that previously when i read it but couldn't be bothered mentioning widow's "contradictions".

Flashing you lights , meaning that there on for less then 1 second is hardly annoying it lets you know there is a danger ahead so there's no problem. But when you have fog lights which there beam is spread around a larger area and are permenently on are much more annoying.

It had just gone from unbroken line to broken line before a roundabout , so in theory when i did my "life threatening move" someone would of had to come around a tight round a bout in the 50kph speed zone travel more then 10 meters then finally crash into me , this would take some 20 seconds where i would of been gone by that time.

You may have just signed up by you already have an arch enemy.

You may have just signed up by you already have an arch enemy.

Really?? well im not exactly a fan of you either boofhead :doubt:

I agree with that other bloke that said the lights do infact distract you especially if you are in a critcal situation where full concentration is needed. Coming over a blind hill and a car comes over the horizon and FLASHES you with all their lights (ie ever single bulb for simpled minded people like you) and it either distracts you from what your concentrating on or blinds you. It may be on for one second yes but many people who flash do it for slightly more and a couple of times. If not blinding its bloody annoying & distracting

Oh and your infringment was near a roundabout?? people DO come through them at 50kph,. or did you think that all it took was someone to turn left to where you were and *smack*? and it obviously was close if it was on the unbroken lines near a roundabout - especially 5 meters up. Plus ya said you didn't take notice that the lines were there so how can you be so sure and positive how far over the lines you were? hrmmm :^o and :?: why the hell didn't you just do a U turn AROUND the roundabout?

A truck broken down on a blind bend yes, that would call for reason to flash and I would do that. Sadly though most people, of course depending on where it is, may think that it is only a speed camera and slow to the limit instead of slowing right down for a potential danger.

WIDOWMAKER, there you go I said it, ever heard of a typo? And WTF do you mean you know who I am?
Serious question to other readers, can someone actually find out who you really are and your full name and details? Because I never actually put any of those details into my profile. I don't appreaciate it if you have tried to find out my full name and where i live.

Now, to the others, I apologise for these posts between WIDOW and myself, I think he's just after someone to argue with. I would like to get to know others on here in my time here, as from reading there are a few decent people here.

If anyone wants to know anything about me or talk privately PM me and or ask me for my msn email thing, especially and Northern Queenslanders 8)

It has no names attached to it, but may do when i have to enter my username so the uni computers know which one to bill for data usage. Anyone who has enough time and energy can find out anything they like. But specifically in this situation, assuming your internet access passes through some kind of firewall and that firewall's behaviour is to allow outbound traffic and related inbound traffic but to block inbound traffic that isn't related to an existing data stream (still with me? ;) ) then it is less than trivial for anyone to connect directly to your computer and gather info that way.

Chances are you access the web through a caching proxy server and so the IP address visible to the rest of the world isn't the one assigned to your computer anyway. Even more likely is that your IP address isn't publicly routable on the Internet which means it is impossible for someone on the Internet to gain direct access to your computer without compromising the border router or one of the firewalls at your uni first.

To give you some perspective, it would be a lot easier to put a bit of social engineering into practice and call the CSU student computing help desk to find out who and where you are.
