Hello :D
Okies, need a bit of help and advice here.
I'm look for a diamante bar, just like the one in that photo!
Now, does anyone have any idea where to find these kind of bars?
I'm in Sydney.
How do these bars come in to the country?

Hmm

If anyone has any info on it, that would be great.
I've searched the threads in the forum, but no one has really said where to get them from or where to start looking

Cheers

Yes, these Diamante front bumpers are brought into the country by wreckers who specialise in parts for imports.

In addition to providing spare parts for your usual imports (Eg. Skyline/Supra etc.etc.) these wreckers supplement their stocklists by also offering spare parts from Jap-spec cars (Eg. Camry, Magna/Diamante, Corolla, Pulsar, Lancer etc.etc), whose parts are interchangable with the Aussie-spec cars.

Clearly, the TR-TS Magna shape and the equivalent Japanese Diamante share the front bumper, headlights & surround. Not sure about the rest of the car, but I know the doors aren't interchangable as the Diamante has frameless doors.

As a result, someone looking to fix a damaged TR or TS might go to a jap wrecker for spare parts, and if they had a front bumper lying around, it would be a jap-spec Diamante one. So that's basically how they come into country. Certainly never as complete cars.

There are probably less than 5 actual TR-TS Diamantes in Australia, presumably all brought in as private imports.

So to answer your question (I realise you're in Sydney), but in Brisbane, you can try places like All-Jap Auto Spares. They could possibly freight it down to you if you really wanted it

Just Magna Spares here in Adelaide did have them when i was looking for a new front for my magna when i first got it (exactly the one in the picture with the round fog lights and extended lip).

They were fairly expensive though hence i just went for the standard ts front.

This is a thread I started when I found a Diamante front bar at a wreckers (cost me $60!!!) purely by accident. There are some before and after pics as well. It was a nice easy job to do that took about 90 minutes from opening the shed to packing up the tools.

Give A.A.A. Automotive Spares in Greenacre a call. Ph. 9790 1792.
That's where I got mine from about 2 years ago.

Basically make a list of viable wreckers, and continually ring them for Diamante parts every week. Whilst its uncommon seeing Diamante front cuts, they do appear from time to time.

Another problem is many don't know what a Diamante is, you may just have to ask for a Verada front end, then check it out yourself (or ask whether it has the integrated fog lights). My Diamante bar actually had 'Magna' written on the bar in chalk, obviously the observer didn't look twice.

Thanks guys for the valuable info! :D

Was looking for a series 1 bar today and came across a spares place in Sydney called Sumo Spares. Scored myself a really nice series 2 1995 diamante front bar with the rounded fog lights and the front lip extension (exactly like the one pictured in the start of this thread)
They had it shipped from Melbourne this morning, he called to tell me it had arrived, so i'm going tomorrow morning to check it out.
Hopefully everything is intact and the front lip is there :)
Cost $365.

I'll take some pics of it tomorrow.

I know you guys are probably thinking $365
But i really like the series 2 diamante front bars and they are extremely hard to find - trust me i've called about 30 jap spares places across Australia!
One was in Perth, they asked me for $340 and transportation extra $110

Can't wait to have a look at it

Thank you guys! :D

I'll be so happy once i get it

Hey kill! You got a whole nose clip? What is it? Is that the whole front bar including the chrome lights and stuff?

I'm not sure if it's painted but it is dark green he said.
Might have to get it painted to match the rest of the car. Where would be the cheapest place? Smash repairs?
Oh and with the two fog lights, can i change the bulb in them to super white or something nicer than just the standard lights? Wonder what bulb they take... hmm

I called Jag Prestige Spares in Perth 1800 337 379
They said they had a black one told me to just get it painted i said i'd call them back but then sumo spares found this one for me in Melbs and got it down here.
That's how desperate I was! I called Perth! Further than New Zealand!
Farrrrr hehe :P

They had 3 that had been sitting in their yard for a year or something.

They told me $350 and I said "$300, or it'll sit there another year" lol

and I got it :D

Haha scare tactics
Poor thing I reckon the thought of the bars sitting there for another year freaked him out big time :D

Just got back from sumo spares this morning and here are some pics of the bar.
Left a $10 deposit til pay day on friday :bouncin:

It's got a few scratches on it but that'll all be smoothed out once it's painted.

I'm so happy :D

Nice purchase. Yes those lights use standard H3 bulbs, so you can get the Philips Clearvision stuff. I didn't because they were really expensive and its only fog lights. I just bought standard Philips bulbs which was heaps cheaper.

yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummy!!!
Your going to get this color coded green? or keep it 2 tone?

dimi108
17-05-2006, 12:53 PM
Hehe I'll keep it two toned.
So I'll get the bar done to match the car :D
Wow I hope all goes well when they paint it and smooth out the blemishes.

Really happy!
Going to change my bulbs to the clear white ones.

Don't know where to hook them up to though, might have to hook them up to the parkers, so they come on when the parkers are on, like on greg's car! :D

Or maybe I should get a fog light switch (that sits next to the cruise control button near the coin box) from a KR verada, and put it in the KS and get an auto electrician to hook it up for me!

TecoDaN
17-05-2006, 10:29 PM
Don't just hook them up to the parkers, thats just dodgy.

You'll want to connect it to your relay, and preferably the switching current should run off the parkers (but the current from the parkers won't be used to power the fog lights) so that the fog lights will only turn on when the parkers are active.

Now tell me about this 'fog light switch' from a KR Verada? I know of none? The lights on the bumper bar of a KR verada are parkers if thats what you're referring to.

I've actually spent a total of $50 buying assorted switches from CE lancers and cruise control switches from the equipped Magna's. The fog light switch from the CE Lancers fits perfectly into the recepticle on the right of the dash, except the mounting (notches) don't correspond :(
I dismantled a cruise control switch from the magna hoping that I can combine components but that didn't work out :(

I was planning on cutting the notches off the Lancer switch, and then glue it in :P

Though I'll let you on another secret. The extremely rare touring wagons have a fog light switch that normally sits where the antenna height switch is (center console). If you can find one, well it'll look pretty original, and no mucking about required!

17-05-2006, 11:26 PM
Damn!
Thanks dan for letting me in on that.
You're right, hooking them up just to the parkers is pretty dodgy.

Don't know where i'm going to find a touring model switch though.
So might have to go for the lancer fog lights switch or something eh?
Got any pics of the lancer fog light switch that will fit? :D

Btw Dan, with the coin box, see how there is a cruise control switch, there is a blank switch next to it, closest to the steering column. Now what switch goes there, and what does it do? Do you know?

I think that's cool how you tried to dismantle the cruise control buttons hehe lol
