View Full Version : New GT dented! fuming......
Yes, I am ranting and raving, but when my 3 day-old 380GT got dented in the rear door while parked in the work carpark, it does make one see red.
I think the dent can be massaged out using the PDR process, but it's just so much trouble, and not to mention the cost!! Probably over $100 I should say
I haven't been dented in a carpark before, and it has to happen NOW.

Bummer - You should put up pics with your rant.. So we can be mindless supporters and vent and fume with you! :)
How big is your carpark?
My car gets parked in the far back corner (the furthest to walk) - no one parks there but me..

if your brand new car is ever gonna get damaged, it is usually within the first few months of having it..
classic example.. mum had an ED falcon wagon, never got touched in the whole 7 years of her having it, yet when she gets a new mazda 6, in the first 12 months it has been rear ended twice, backed into a brickwall (me:redface:), the front bumper scuffed, and numerous supermarket dents; one of which could have only happened by a trolley with a turbo-charger on it being aimed at the door..
makes ya very pissed off.. more so when they dont have the courtesy to leave you a note..
through work i can get instant dent removal for $66 a panel, regardless of how many dents there are, which is caryard price.. they guy said its nealr double that for the public..
so i'd say it would be about $120 for yours to be fixed up, give or take..

Not exacltly a "brand new car" once you've owned it for more than a few months. :bowrofl: :bowrofl:
Sorry, I couldn't resist that one - and yes, I know what you mean lol .
tis a sucky thing to have happen - especially to such a nice car, so young.

Yeah I know what you mean by little marks here and there. My mums Verada has a nice streak of white on the right corner of the front bumper because some wanker in a car-park obviously didn't realise how close they were to our car. It's still there today and it's pretty obvious to look at. My mum was hell pissed off when it happened because it was only a few months after we'd bought it.
Post a picutre of it if you get round to it.

If some ***** in an X5 touched my car or any other Mitsbuishi (and I seen her) I would follow her, wait till she stops or go's home and inscribe the work "B&TCH" in her X5 and see how she likes it. I'd do it on the back too so that other drivers could see it.

is it at a shopping centre car park? some shopping centres will cover dent removal if you can prove your car was parked there when the incident happened. eg; you work there.

Thats what I do, my old TJ had six dents put it in through carpark idiots......my KJ, not one....YET, I just park up near the back where most ppl dont go, works fine so far.....now, if i could only convince the dealership to leave a decent amout of space between cars...they are shocking at it!

I feel your rage mate. Ive had my new pride and joy for 3 weeks and (touch wood) still no mishaps. Unfortunately I have become extremely anal about where I park it (my wife reminds me all the time:nuts: ) But looking at the massive expanse of door skin on the 380's and no protector stips:shock: im trying to be as careful as I can.
I know its only a matter of time but I would rather walk an extra couple of mins and minimise the risk.

When you spend so much money on a car, i dont see why you should be be anal about where you park it! there are a ton of twits out there who have no regard for anyones car.
Even when i park my 13 year old POS i still make sure im not parking next to rustbuckets or trolleys.
and hey, it keeps the value of your car....no dints or dings, no resprays are only a good thing.
Just hope you give it as much care as you do in 5 years time!

I wish they put the side protector strips on the VRX. It would make sense, even if they weren't chrome ones they would still do a better job then to have nothing there. Hopefully they'll add them in the future.
I know what you mean about parking aswell. I drive my mums car all the time (KJ Verada) and even though it's not the newest car in the world it's still a fantastic car and my mum has had it scraped by another car (which was white) on the front right corner.

Nah the X5 chick took up 2 spaces when the entire carpark was full. (took me 20 mins of driving just to get a park)
I watch a guy get out of his car in front of her double parking and key both sides of her car. Get in and drive off..
Personally I think she deserved it, so i didnt note the rego.

the trouble to find ppl to fix them... maybe gettin it towed....
the 'time consuming' bit is what gets people to explode with fire out of their head.....

Reminds me a few days ago a new mercedes CLS 500 black i drove past that took 2 spaces in a packed parking station had i think not 1 panel untocuhed. Parking like that is blatantly arrogant and deserved.

I reckon it is (if you value your car so highly). I have friends who do that with their Chev with a pearled paintjob. Quite a nice finish but if one panel gets dinged and needs spraying then the who side of the car 'needs' respraying. The thing is they are thoughtful and don't take up two spaces in a popular area like near an entrance. They go where people don't park because the people don't like walking across half a carpark to get inside so there's usually areas that aren't as busy / popular.

Booya's parking tips 101;
1 - avoid parking in congestited areas;
2 - if you have no choice - park next to "respectable" cars - expensive cars, new cars and luxo cars
3 - if possible park during off peak times - ie, hour before the place closes - lunch times and mid afternoon are nightmares
4 - get out and walk you lazy bugga! - further you park the less cars normally (unless your @ disney land)
5 - park next to pillars - that way only one side is subject to idiots (unless you dontknow how to park!)
6 - avoid parking near trolly returns, back doors and heavy traffic areas - try stay as close to the centre of your park as possible!
