Hey guys.
Just got the account verified on here, so I thought I'd post. Got myself a new Magna in November just gone, upgrade from a '84 Nissan Bluebird :p I never really thought much about my car, but this forum is pretty cool, and makes me want to do something.
I'm not looking for anything special, but what can I do to generally improve my car? I don't want any cool rims, or anything like that. Was thinking general improvements to my sound system (stock), and things like that. I don't want big "holy crap my b*** is huge and pointless", just something decent.
What do you guys suggest? My car is in my profile. But here's a pic (http://www.shrike.be/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core%3ADownloadItem&g2_itemId=651) for reference. If you're in Mildura, you might see it around sometimes.

hey dude, you have the right atitude.. you should allways sstart off with small things and then gradually add real modifications.. i think you should inprove you sterio cause if your wanting to be a chick magnet you need some decent music pumping out of a decent sterio.. or you could add pod filters or something small like that.. lol
cheers mate

Buy a new headunit. That will sound much better than stock, even on stock speakers. But if you have another $200, that will buy you some aftermarket front speakers and rear 6x9" which will sound much better not amped.
Other than that, wash your car mate. hahahhaha
Add Cold Air Intake, Tint windows, Rear muffler, ****, even lower the car a little and get 17" second hand rims, which you can get cheap.

Haha... I know. I couldn't keep my car clean even if I tried. So much dirt and crap around this town. I give it a weekly wash, anything else is pointless.

But how many of them took out a loan for theirs? I'm paying mine all off by myself, nothing from mum or dad.

Lowering your car when you need to travel on dirt or rough roads wouldn't be the smartest thing to do! The Magna just has enough ground clearance (from personal experience) don't go smashing your muffler against the ground after a bump!
Most girls aren't really attracted by guys with the loudest bass-iest system, those that are would jump out and into another car with a louder system... if you get what I mean. True there may be a nice girl attracted to that but man, if you need a good sound system to attract girls then I wouldn't bother trying ;) Girls may be impressed by a sound system, but its more good sounding sound, not something that takes their hearing a week to recover from.
Much more effective is to have a neat tidy car (your car is very neat btw)!, its much more impressive to have your own input of taste (unless yours suck) than to have what ever other guy has.
Basically if you're doing your car up just to show off then people will think you're arrogant! if you do your car up for personalisation, and take pride in it (there is a big difference) then people will be impressed. It doesn't look good having a car where all you can hear on the outside is doof doof, may sound good inside the car but outside it sounds muffled and crap!
A good exhaust is a good thing, not something too loud because half the time that can make the car sound sick in a bad way! An exhaust that sounds good and doesn't wake people up around mildura would be a good thing, don't want to give yourself a bad name in town!

heh... thanks guys. I really like my car, even if it is all stock. I'm mainly getting ideas at the moment. Hell, with the loan, and every other expense... I can't afford to do jack right now. It'll probably happen towards the end of the year.

That's exactly what I'm looking at. I love my car because it's mine. The first thing I mod will be the sound system, just because I love my music. It's loud enough for me now, just needs more clarity. I need a better sub system because of the music I listen to. Which can be anything from trance to death metal. Mainly the metal part.
I'll be happy if other people are impressed with my car, but I'm doing it for me, not for them. But like I said before, my old car was an '84 Nissan Bluebird. I saw it running around town the other day, albeit a bit dumpier than when I had it. But I've got to show myself off, just because of THAT upgrade for me. :p

can vouch for that, specially if you havent got a closed in garage, many dewy windows in the mornings otherwise. and yeh...when your living on a block or frequenting one, it doesnt help

Exactly. I'm about 10km out of town, so.... I'm pretty much screwed.

living here, i'd recommend tinting the windows. See the bloke from Extreme Cool Tints, etiwanda av just opposite oval 1. He did mine, looks great and specially thorugh summer is very handy. i had my audio stuff done by tonkins, good blokes.
other than that, the usual zorst (again, i saw dynatune, and if you wanna have a listen at a redback, me and leigh have em) drop, rims, woteva

I know the feeling my town is very bad for dirt and filth and it doesnt help every weekend i travel about 100kms to see my gf.
I have a 3rd gen on my Ps:P my opinion best looking model is the TF :D
Hey, welcome to the forums.
Thats a nice model to own, has plenty of potential! Like the colour too.
I would recommend tinted windows first, perhaps a chrome exhaust tip or even the filter.
I would think that the factory sound system in the ES is fairly good for now.
This site is full of helpful tips to get you underway.
I went major on my first mods and am now catching up on the smaller things too.
Anyways have fun with it! :D

Nice car, Shrike,
You are two steps ahead of me; you've got alloy wheels and rear spoiler. Mine still uses hubcaps
Anyway, I think the first thing you should do is replace the shock absorber. The standard S/A is too soft the car leans too much when cornering, and looses its grip straight away when you hit the accelerator when cornering. Those problems (leaning and understeering) can be minimised by fitting a slightly firmer S/A. I used to use Koni Sport Adjustable for my old Lancer, I am not sure if that model is available for Magna. This Koni is so good, the car gets back to its original position after bumps or potholes, not leaning too much, and improves the grip.
Just my 2 cents.

Getting a chrome exhaust tips was going to be high up on my list. I like looking at my car, until I see the exhaust. Looks old and rusty in comparisson. I'm happy with the sound system, I decided the thing that's killing it is my dodgy FM transmitter for my iPod. God it's a piece of crap. Doesn't help that I cracked it open and modified the antenna, but hey. :p I'll be getting something that has a line input, or an iPod interface. Probably line in, so I can use whatever I like, and not be limited.
And thanks MrPerkasa :p
The car is as I bought it.. all totally stock. I liked how it drove, and I liked the color. I had no idea that the spoiler or alloy wheels weren't stock. They were just there. Shows what I know about cars, and purchasing. Luckily, I didn't pay anything extra for them. haha

I thought pieces of **** and Audis ran hand in hand? Sorry, but I've never liked them. I think it's because they were always pushed on The Price Is Right :p
