Hello,
May seem like a dumb qtn, but do all third gens have airbags?? I have a TF Auto Exec, and want to change my steering wheel to aftermarket, but don't want to lose airbags if I have them. THere's no indication anywhere on the inside of the car that it has them.
Help??
Cheers,

Execs didn't come with ABS or AirBags standard. But my TF exec has both ABS and a drivers side aitbag factory fitted (previouse owner must have optioned up. :P
i had the same prob
check on the side of yur steering wheel, if u have a screw that takes the cap off over yur horn then u have no air bag, if u have allen key's then u have an airbag

Um why are we unscrewing things?
Turn the car on and if you have an SRS light that comes on for a few secs you have an airbag, oh and the steeringwheel has a weakened crease along the centre!

nothing unscrewed. u just look down the little hole and see if its a screw or an allen key

ok what you want to do is turn it on and accelerate to something over 50km/h but under 80km.h and then drive it into a wall. There should be a placard somewhere in your car about the airbag system too as its dangerous
Soz to hijack but why does my ts v6 have abs and im think mitsu said all the v6s had abs

Thats abit of a generalisation...... in the TF maybe, but my TJ exec has drivers airbag, abs and cruise control. Also, pretty sure the ES which replaced the execs in when TL came out had drivers, passengers and side curtin airbags as standard.

i think hes generalisation was regards to the TE/TH/TF lot. I think TJ onwards they all had airbags and abs..?

Yeah I like the SRS light check. But You should also have a warning message on your sun visor. I would think it would be a design rule to visually warn of this device.

Its pretty wasy to check. 3rd gens with airbags have different steering wheels.
Airbag (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=3041416¤t_rec=14&used_rec=146&total_rec=46&sort_type=&total_rec=46&sort_type=&make_id=3&model_id=57&keyword=AIRBAG&state_id=7&search_distance=25)
See the crease running across the steering wheel.
No airbag (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2942129¤t_rec=10&used_rec=49&total_rec=29&sort_type=&total_rec=29&sort_type=&make_id=3&model_id=57&keyword=TF&state_id=7&search_distance=25)
The mitsubishi sign is in an ellipse and its centered on the wheel.
Also all airbag equipped cars should have a placard warning about the dangers, usually behind one of the sun visors.
My TF Sports is rare in the fact that it has Dual Airbags and ABS. I pick it up on thurs :)

I was under the impression that it was a requirement that all cars with a drivers airbag should state 'airbag' on the hornpad? If it doesn't state it then you don't have an airbag.
