Hey all,
Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on this.. Do u think the th/kh to tj/kj a big step up? I mean the J range had some better models like the VRX and sports and slightly powerful engine but I mean the features overall? Any particular strength issues in the body, different suspension settings etc???

Pretty sure there's no major changes.
Mainly just cosmetics, engine upgrade and additional models like VRX, Ralliart, GTV etc
Series 2 TJ had standard tiptronic.

TH had a sports model..
It depends what you're after, what models you're looking at etc. as to if there are worth whuile differences.. I'm happy with my KH :)

I heard something somewhere along the line, cant remember where though, they the series 2 TJ/KJ have SLIGHTLY thicker panels - reallly dont know if there is any truth to this though...one other thing i do know, is the series 2 had extra door intrusion bars put in them....but i cant speak of how effective they might be....but all in all, if you can get the TJ for only a couple more g's...i'd got for it........

As been said, it comes down to what features you'd like, and whether you prefer a 'J' front or the older looking fronts.
There was a bigger change from the E/F series to the H series behind the scenes then there was from the H series to the J series, such as feature standards, BCM and security modules, and the luminicent dash and electrochromic rear view mirrors on the Veradas.
Re-iterating Ricbec, there were new/different side intrusion bars installed in the late TJ models, you'll notice this with the extra plastic cover where the door pockets are, it actually makes the door pockets become very ineffective. Other than these intrusion bars, I don't recall any other structural/integrity changes.

yea, old door pockets could hold 20 CDs in a softpack.
Later ones can only hold 2 cassette tapes.... WHO USES CASSETTES ANYMORE!?!? lol

As far as I could tell the doors are the same between the TJ2 and earlier models. Just those damm impact pads in the pockets, which actually go through the door trim against the inner door skin:rant: .

Well I love all the features in a Verada... I love the look of the dash. I guess it really comes down to what u want. The best car for the best price

Given my time again I would go the Verada purely for the interior and features!
Much more of a sweet cruuuise car, Im growing out of sports...
Give me leather, sound system and some big rims... but they dont have a flaming manual... thats the only thing stopping me!

That was yet another big reason i upgraded - was well worth it, even if it was at top dollar - personally for me....leather sucks.....i have it in our 76 ford LTD, while it LOOKS beutiful, you sweat in them more, they do wear through quicker, more expensive to repair if you happen to damage it, and you can, depending on your body build and shape, you can have a tendancy to move in the seat than with cloth or velour.......give me the standard Ei verada seats anyday, but thats just my personal preference

If you can go a KJ2 then do that because of the 5 speeder.
Other than that, go the KH. Better looking model in my opinion and it has the better dash illumination setup. Not a huge fan of the KJ upgrade to the dash.
No real difference other than the tranny.

They are fine. 9 is a pretty good price if its in mint condition. I've just ticked over 125000 in mine and it still runs as good as the day i bought it. Just take it for a spin and if it all seems smooth especially through the tranny then you cant really go wrong. Also make sure the motor is nice and smooth and quiet at idle. Should be fine.
If you do end up buying it, i would highly recommend you get your tranny power flushed, and your coolant flushed as well just so you know its been done as they should be done every 50,000 or so. Also find out if its had the timing belt done. If not, this will set you back round $400.
Overall a great car and its my fav out of my KE, KH Wag, KJ2 and KJ2AWD.
WHat colour is it?
Good luck.
