G'day to all, i thought i see if anyone has had any problems with the tr gearbox's and what they have done.

When i select a gear on the auto it takes about 30 seconds for it to drop in and when it is in gear it doesnt have any go....? im thinking the whole thing might be ****ed but any sujestions on the matter would be awsome. is there anyway of checking if the gearbox has been totaly chewed? and whats the best option .......new gearbox or recondioning?

cheers people you have helped many times b4.

Sounds like low oil...
Check fer leaks, dip yer stick when she's hot.
Could also be a blocked transmission filter.
Smell the oil, does it smell burnt? is it as brown as poo?
Should be nice pink color...
Release the hand brake... just kiddin
Check the brakes for binding.
Sounds like it's stuck in 3rd. Check the ecu for fault codes. The connection is just above the glove compartment. You have to drop the compartment down to access it. Use an analogue meter to read them.

thanks for the feed back guys,

the car has done ver close to the 250.000 mark, just checked the oil....the level is perfect but the oil smells burnt as f@ck and is that poo brown colour.....um its definitly not the brakes or stuck in 3rd...... ive got my mate who is a mechanic coming to have geeze at her 2night we are thinking of buying a second hand box and trying to do a diy?? sombody said to me today to drain the oil and put it through a sive just to see if there is any metal in it.... the car has been serviced every 10 to 15 for its whole life......is there anyway of taking it apart to see what the problem will be?
