Just wondering what High Beam bulb peopel are using. I've done my low beams with a H4. But the high beams I originally brought a H3 and it didnt seem to fit, looked at the store and thought H7 was alright but the prongs are to narrow. What do you people use??? It has two prongs...I've seen H1 used abit but the H1 in the store only had 1 prongs.

Mate, your high beam glob sits in a little holder.
Pull teh plug off the back of the thing, undo the wire catch that holds it in place, and when you pill the bulb out, you'll see it sits in a white plastic thing. The whit plastic thing has two prongs. Remove the bulb and you'll see it has only 1 pin - this is because the metal "colar" is the other contact.

For high beams, you need H1s - this is for the standard 3rd gen lights - high beams.

Just remember you need to remove your washer bottle to get to the drivers side lights.

Phillips Vision Plus went in all around last week  the brightness  walk towards the light!

Heads lights mate.
He know's that. He's talking about what sort of headlights do you have? 2nd gen, 3rd gen, stock lenses, parabolic lenses, one peice or two piece?

Thanks mate, upon closer inspection i found the holder. Kinda overlookedit at first. Nice and bright now.

Vision plus bulbs are excellent. EGO - why does that photo have your highbeams only on? You do have to have both on to be legal... And your lowbeams need to be on the outside...

I'll third the Philips Vision 50+'s.
Not cheap, but awesome.
Run them in both low beam and high beam, and the difference is amazing.

Like always you get what you pay for......

Hahaha... well spotted.

Hey, talking about you and headlights. Any idea (roughly) what the hotspot angle and fall off angle for a typical headlight might be? How about their attenuation (fall off over distance). I was thinking of roughly simulating them in my 3D animations. I've guessed in the past but I like the idea of having something that's actually based on something resembling something real.

cheers - that was pretty simple, just install Osram silverstars(hi/lo & hi's) , so much brighter, so much better

thanks

Have a look at the hedlamp telemetry standards as outlined in the ECE/ADR's - they give the outputs at each axis. I couldn't give you an accurate answer off the top of my head.

Are you looking to simulate ideal headlamp reflectors (as in design them?) quite complicated stuff!

I had the links for the ECE's around here somewhere - I will see if I can find them again.

Nah, just indicatively give my animated cars headlamps that give a semi real illumination
