but, is that can a valid replacement... i think not... you NEED a spare tyre for roadworthyness purposes... the can will fix small pin holes... if u have a blowout, ur ****ed...

ive been wondering about this for ages. why cant you just mount a suspended spare under the rear? so many cars have them and they would probably all be rear wheel drive to. with the fact we aint got no diff wouldnt there be even more room to hang one under there?

doesnt seem to be. good point thou
but yes the fact of no tye being there really lightens the load!!

It's also very possible that it sounds better not because you moved the box into the tyre well, but because you inverted the sub and hence increased box volume = lower frequency handling. That box looks tiny and so the box was probably too small with the sub mounted the traditional way.
yeh i had it inverted before but in my old car, sounded crappy so never got round to trying it this way
plus my spare tyre is the stock sports rim, 16x6.5 and i got 18x8's on there so either way im gonna be booked for not having the right spare tyre ?? so y have the extra weight ?

I dont think it's illegal. Well not in Victoria, I don't know about other states.

Illegal in QLD!
Time to make another enclosure for the 18x8 that you're going to have to buy..
So many people do this.. so many people get defected.. yet EVERYONE still does it.
I'll see if i can post up some pics of my brothers JL 15w0 in the tyre well of the Magna..
But I got the spare tied up the side of the boot.. Brother did it with them cable tie things and 3 pieces of MDF.. But I pulled them out.. and left it suspended by the cable ties!
