Just finished this yesterday, sorta, i still have to tack down the mesh somehow.

I used a hollowed out TS grille and tried to make it as flat as possible on both top and bottom.

Im still undecided weather or not i like it.

becuase i havent seen such a thing done before it was hard to know what it would look like.

8 hours later and it was done. I'll let you have a look at it, its something different, but if this fails i can always go back to my ol' TR grille.
I also dont like how you can see everything behind the mesh.......

i think you need a third bar if u will, running across the middle or get the inside billet meshed. mini truckin style.

Thats what i was hoping for, Do autobarn sell "thicker" mesh, seeing as i'll be going back to get a new CAI pipe

I might give it a few more clear coats aswell to smooth it over.

JELLMAG - I know this is the same mesh as your using, but from the photos i have it looks like you cant see through yours as much?

Try these 3 Chops on for size.

1.) Adding a Third Cross Bar and getting thicker black mesh behind it so it not noticable.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y285/Skando1/optionone.jpg
2.) Stainless Billet Metal Mesh (ala Minitrucking )
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y285/Skando1/option2.jpg
3.) Chrome Square Mesh ( ala Pimpin 300C's )

Hmm not too sure I like 2+3 but I'm not too sure what it'd look like from further away. Damn you've done a lotta work on your car though and it looks hot.

I like it as is in the top pics :D:stoopid: Stick with how it is and just add darker mesh. Maybe give whats behind it (Radiator etc.) a coat of heat proof black paint as well (if this is possible).

Well done mate.

[/QUOTE]

The difference in JELLMAG's photo's and yours is the fact I took the photo's of JELLMAG's grill out in the sunlight and yours are taken undercover, so they probably would look the same sitting side by side.

my mesh the slits go from side to side
with the cutout facing the top of the radiator

IE: if i put my head down i can see the top of the radiator support
and also i glued mine with a hot melt glue gun

Ps seee Eric a can't spell eather :D

Cheers JELLMAG, took it outside and yeah, its alot less visible, ill just glue it down with whatever i can find im sick of buying things:P

i'll be leaving this on......look quite good out in the day as opposed to sittin' in the garage.

Ill see what i can do about the "behind grille" issue, i do have some spare mesh left over which i BUTCHERED! (lol 1st timer using mesh) so i might put some behind the grille.......i dunno.

its actually a really effective mod, even if do what JELLMAG did, you just need some fibreglass filler, body filler, an angle grinder, some sandpaper and if possible a dremel.

:doubt: now i have to find something else to change!

i reckon the nudge bar looks awsome actually, makes it look
funnily enough, TUFF.

also it means your front bar wont get damaged if someone happens to reverse into you.

hmmmmm...it's different. I dont think it looks as good as the 3rd gens because the 2nd gen is a little more boxier at the front and doesn't look as sleek. Personally i prefer the KS look, but that wouldn't be "tuff" lol.

doubling up the mesh worked for me, i cant see behind it and it looks good, would have been better if i had put the mesh further back and used black mesh, will change.......sometime :P ( if it takes me as long as it took me to put in my speakers i'll have it done in around december lol )

cheers guys.

The mesh thats there now i actually don't mind, i just have to find something to go behind it so you can't see behind it in low light.

Ill take another picture of it sometime this week of it out of the garage

ahahah, HEY i had the idea too, you just shed more light on it.

You need Arcrylic Primer
The arcrylic Paint
and Arcrylic Clear
I used the K&N Varietys, the primer and clear Was $10.99 a pop and the custom mix paint was $24.95.

Dont forget to get some different grades of sandpaper too:)
