Hey guys, I'm thinking of changing my color of parking lights to blue, i have a few questions 1st,


Is it legal?
how to do change the globes


because i differently want to change my parking lights, I'm sick of normal stock, it wouldn't cost much to do it, I've read through TR-TS-KR-KS_Workshop_Manual_1995 pdf, but it doesn't have anything on it.

1. Quite definitely not. White, in it's various incarnations (ie. yellow-white, blue-white, etc), only.

2. Just pop the boot off the back of the light, and you should be able to pull out the parker bulb fairly easily. Depending on your type of headlight, there are two types of bulb around; T10, and BA9S. If it's a bayonet type, it's BA9S, if it's a wedge type, it's T10.
(My stock lights had T10, my diamante parabolics have BA9S)

Find some pure-white LED replacements on ebay (search for either "T10 LED" or "BA9S LED")

Yes its illegal but who drives with just parkers. And when the head lights on you only see a tiny tinge of the colour show through.. I have done this mod also due to car comps and i have used the 7 colour changing leds. It looks sweet at night and turns heads for a small cost.. It is as easy changing orginal bulb and then just wiring the leds into existing wiring.. I say give it a go its worth it...

You may consider thse options:

parkers using LEDs
or Good coloured Globes.

However they are not legal especially if is blue, red, green.

Do take note that some 4 LEDs on a one parker assembly may not fit as they may be too thick to fit in. Always check with you original size globe.

well the leds are available from **** smiths but other similar companys should stock them. And they cost about $5each bulb(well worth the colour effect..) And under an hour of your time. Be sure to solder the wire not just electrical tape them... neater and safer this way..
or cheaper option again is to buy the lil rubber coloured condoms for the parkers bulbs them selves. Cheaper and easier.. And a good range of colours to choose from..

your car should be fine mate, its not a cop magnet in any way, so the cops should have nothing to pick your car up on unless your breaking a road rule at the time..

I am not sure if cops are going to let it off, to be honest. Even with my white lights globes I am afraid cops will stop me. However if you do get stop, just be nice and polite and said I didnt realise that it wasnt legal honestly. lol

But yeah I think if you say I take them off and say sorry they would just let you go.

That's for the 7 colour LED's right? Cos I went there the other day to ask about them and the pimply git that i spoke to had no clue:nuts: .

Gonna replace my tail lights with led's next week.
To what I understand (and what adz told me) red and blue are totally illegal, but other colours like green etc. are good.

In regards to cops just letting you take them off is not always the case.
Went on a NSW Toyota Supra cruise 2 weeks ago and police where defecting on Parramatta Rd, Broadway.
One guy had red coloured parkers and the police told him to snip the wire or yellow sticker. And he was like wtf i'll take them out now, not snip the wire. And they go fine and did it for him. I swear he nearly punched the copper out haha. That was pretty slack though, snip the wire.

But yeah anyways, stop being pansies and worrying about cops so much. Just put them on. As long as they're not blue or red I guess.
I drive around with the green ones on all the time during dusk and have passed many police cars and they're fine.
One of them goes to me "mate where you get the green lights from. Mars?"

Who cares guys.

Ok i'll be honest here, as cool as they do look, they are illegal and for a damn good reason.
1)Some people dont realise that your parkers are STILL ON when you switch to headlights.
2)The blue and changing globe ones are the worst, when someone with them are sitting behind you, in your mirror you are constantly seeing a flash of blue/red light and first instinct is watch out for an emergency vehicle.
3)Not to mention that number 2 is very distracting
4)Same as number 3 only when they are oncomming, can be dangerously distracting

same with all the LED screen squirters... they were the 'rage' in asia 3+ yrs ago and
I had hoped they wouldn't catch on here, but they are. Worst look ever! :doubt:


re putting coloured LEDs inside your headlamps &/or parkers,
if you wanna be smart don't use them for when the car is moving.

Again in asia 3+ yrs ago, the backyard tuners were hooking them up to the
car alarm LED circuit - so they only come on when the car's locked up.

Looks real cool imho & stands out in the supermarket carpark at night.

Those LED screen washers look too ricer.
At least with the parkers they look more better as they are inside the light, not sitting on top of the bonnet.

I'm happy with my green ones and have never been defected or bothered about them.

M4DDOG I agree with you that they might be distracting.
And I guess this applies to all of the colours, not just the red and blue ones.
But they look so nice! And yeah, maybe just don't go for the blue or red ones. Those two colours are way to common as well.

Dimi you are right, green leds for teh win!, i have had coppers say to me that as long as its NOT blue or red, then is ok, used to have the blue washer nozzles, the guy said turn em off, and actually sugessted green....

well guys, i just got my lights, got wrong color but oh well, its blue so now i've got to be carefull of the cops now. find how i could avoid the cops, put my stock for normal driving and put my blues when amc meets are on!!, since they easy to put in!!

Well if you were really clever, I'm sure there are some multi-pin RGB LEDs that don't automatically change, there could possibly be a way to wire them up so R+G+B is normally on ( = white), but at the flick of a switch you get whatever colour you want. Assuming they exist, and assuming the RGB addition adds to true white, then it should in theory be quite easy to do.

I think you'll find green is still probable illegal, but the cops wouldn't care nearly as much as if it was red/blue which i think is fair enough. Green does look nice (my fiances last car had them) and they aren't nearly as annoying as blue or red.

so harsh lol iv had mine for bout a year now (started with red then white now blue) and iv never had ne problem with cops. jus gotta think. when u get pulled over for sum reason turn ur lights of completly and ye dont drive with em on. i only leave mine on when im parked but when on the road i always turn the lights on. the look good erik but try fixin ur front end up a lil. ur bumper should be able to pop back out which will look better

thanks for that ashneel my car will be be fixed after tax time, i might need to fix my timing chain, i don't know how much that will cost it, plus my brakes aswell.
