On tuesday i took my car in to JAX to get a tyre (rear drivers) looked at that seemed to have a slow leak. They called 20mins later to say i needed a new tyre altogether cuz it was no good. Anyway, went back to pick the car up and they showed me the tyre, it had a nail in it but the inside of the tyre had no grip on it, it had worn off. They said it was due to wheels (rears) being way outta whack, they were facing \ -----/ (not to that extent but u get my point). Anyway..... in the end the guy put machine things on my wheels and showed me a table on his comp which showed my wheels were out by more than 1.5 degrees which he said wasn't good. He said that i would need camber pins or something which i was going to book my car in to get done on thursday. I got no idea when it comes to that sorta thing? Which he said would be $90 a side. So then before he made out the invoice he said he called the company they get the camber pins from and said that magna's are different. He said that they have only 1 bolt, instead of 2 and u have to get the whole "Camber Kit" which costs $400 excluding fitting.
Does this sound right or am i being taken for a ride? A very expensive ride at that!

$400 sounds a bit expensive. theres another thing that they can put on and i think they are called shim kits. campper is a bolt that u twist to adjust the camber and shim is u put plates in it to adjust the camber and these are cheaper. but wat sprins/ height are u ridin on? i have 18" by 8.f and my rear is on king lows and that has a lil bit of -camber and i got tolld all was good.

Check out the shim kit from Whiteline. Less than $100 from memory. I think you can have 1 or 2 shims either side (ie. fixed camber correction +0.5deg, +0.8deg or +1.3deg (both shims together)) You only need camber bolts for your front end if the camber is excessive. ie you've lowered your car too much.

Whiteline recommend a static camber of -1.0deg for the rear.

I don't know how much it was lowered cuz it was done when i bought it and the rims were already on it to but i know the rims are 18" but i dunno about the width? He told me they were Lovell springs if that helps? the camber at the back said -2.45deg or something and he said its 1.5deg too far which he said wasn't good at all.
So u guys reckons i should ask him about shim's as a cheaper alternative?

At a guess I would say your lovells at the back are as superlow (They make them 50-60mm drop???)
The shims should almost get you back to -1.0 camber. I say give it a go. You should be able to live with it. Your tyres certainly wouldn't get chewed up so quick.

i wouldnt go back to him coz he might still try to rip u off. try another tyre place. and yes shims are the way to go. they are cheap, quick to install and make changes to and do the same thing as camber kit but at a cheaper price.

Try Phillcom for a quote on the kit. Then take it to a decent mechanic. If you don't know one I am sure there are plenty of people who can recommend one for you. If you are in the Parramatta area in Sydney I can recommend a decent mechanic out this way.

Dude you are talking to the king of camber and toe problems and uneven tyre wear....

Get yourself a white line kit which is about $90 then get Bob Jane at Campbelltown to fit it.. its and easy job they will knock up in an hour.. Ring bob jane in Campbelltown and ask for Brad..tell him Jason from the Australian Magna Club told me to ring you and you will look after him and fit the bolts and shims if you provide the kit.. if you have any issues call me..

Can get the kit from Phillcom..:)

Yea its rear problems, when i PM'd phillcom i said i needed the Whiteline Shim kit? But the reply i got was the pins for front and bushes for rear?
One more thing, if i have the rear problems will i need to get pins put into the front aswell? May sound n00b but i have no idea about camber etc etc and just wondering if fixing the rear will occur changes in the front and then needing pins for them too?

Nah they're completely independant, just attend to the rear and you'll be sweet.

That price sounds right to me, but i probably got jipped on my statesman, i paid 590 from Bob Jane for a camber kit. My wheels were shockingly out as well
