yeh you need to take the pressure out of the lines before you can start (just disconnect the pump and run till it dies) then make sure you have a jar under the lines so you can save the drops
if yours is carby you dont have to worry tho

So after I locate my fuel filter, disconect it, waste some petrol and replace it what do I do next? Just run the engine untill it starts? Or is there something to get the fuel back into the engine without it affecting it?

remember you need to take the pressure out of the system first before you disconnect it unless you want to be sprayed with petrol :doubt:

Would one be required to buy a specific fuel filter? Or will any old thing do?

Where is the fuel filter on a TP Magna Elante?
IT should be at the back of the engine under the plenum chamber near the master brake cylinder, should be a massive thing unless someone has up the wrong fuel filter on it.
if u need any pics let me know and ill post some up. and it should be in the same place for both EFI and Carby cars just with diffrent fuel filter.
Thanks guys, bought one today, damn $40 from Super Cheap
