i think it was a vrx or gt but i'm not 100% it had the clear type tail lights

raced it in my cordia turbo with a vr4 intercooler , evo 3 turbo ,and 19psi
i'd be at least a 14.2 down the 400m

i beat it like you'd expect but it put up more fight than most cars...camary sportivo, falcon xt,

what sort of 400m times do the 380's pull?
the cordia smoked it bad but judging by the speed it would hav had to be fast

When i had a manual 380 VRX at the end of last year i raced a mate in his manual TJ VRX. They were pretty even, just had to shift earlier in the 380 cause it has shorter ratio's than the TJ. It should run between a 14.8-15.0 quater mile time

I read it again, so you've never been down the strip hey, dont comment on times you've never done, you'll probably do a 15sec pass, everyone thinks there quicker before they go down the strip. And if you are 15, f uck off with ur stories.

Yeah its generally agreed that street race stories are almost always embelished. The strip is the proper place to do it, alot more fun and safe, and you've got a slip for proof and to compare with your mates.

Yeah, i drag off Porsche 911's all the time and my car would have to do at least an 11 second pass down the quarter. Im just guessing of course...lol

Why doesn't everyone jump up and down on him, having fun ?

It's pretty easy to guestimate a quarter time with some experiance. I could guess most cars within .5 of a second after having been in them just drive or ride in them then watch them down the drags, after enough cars it's simple.

Thats besides the fact that he was curious what time they run, as he stated it pulled harder than Xt falcons and the like.

i remember a couple of years ago before had taken my car down the quarter i conservatively estimated it would run about a high 15. Ended up running 15.3 on first attempt down the strip and i was stoked!

I couldnt care what his (his dads) cordia runs, i just think ppl dont like it when they state a quarter mile time, as if it is known fact, without proof of it. :)

No one has taken it down the quarter.

But from estimates it runs the same or a little slower than a standard TJ VRX.. so anywhere between 14.8 and 15.8

While I didn't exactly race a 380VRX, I did put my foot down once we took off from the lights (I was behind him). And I can tell you it pulled very well (He was also manual, I didn't stand a chance..lol).

Then I had the chance to go against it with a bit more enthusiasm as we both turned into the freeway entrance, and I can safely say he was slowly pulling away from me the whole time (upto 120, backed off after that) lol

Well besides magazines no one has.

Motor and Wheels claim my XR6T does a 14.8 quarter mile.. Yet i have recorded a 14.01 quarter which i know will be a 13.8 come winter time.

Looking at the Wheels magazine 380 special edition that they did a few months back the posted a 15.3 @ 152 kmh in a 380 base manual. I reckon you could hit the high 14's without too much trouble.

i shouldn't expect the 380 to deliever mind blowing 400m times, after all it's a family sedan

Yeah Wheels magazine measure their 400m to equal 450m.:bowrofl: :bowrofl:

Last time I checked it was a quarter. Or is that the speed of your typing?lol

wheels and motor have a different way of timing cars which is always a bit slower then the track. Wheels use a GPS sensing thing which basically records the time from when the car starts to move. When you go down the strip, your time doesnt start recording untill you pass the start sensor, which is a little bit infront of where your car actually starts from, so by the time you have passed this, the car is already doing about 5km/h, which doesnt sound like much, but when you consider that it takes more energy to make the car first start rolling then it does once its up and going, it does make a difference. Thats why wheels and motor are always about .5 of a second off what you get on the strip, however what wheels and motor get is actually more accurate.

btw, with 19psi, i hope you have a strong bottom end on that motor...

also 14.2 down the quarter... thats a pretty specific estimate.. you should have said "i reckon it would do low 14's" rather then giving a specific time if you dont actually know, you wouldnt be copping so much flack if you did
