Minor cam profile change and ecu tune I believe.

Drive a manual TH Sports then a Manual TJ VRX and you will know the difference, I still drive my old car every now and again (Manual TH Sports) and the on in gear acceleration of that compared to my TL is noticeable, eg 4th and entering the highway the TL ****s on the TH.

He means the 155kw engine found in the later TJ Exec's etc, not the 163kw engine.

This sounds right. The 147 kw motor has very mild cam profiles even compared to the 140 kw 3.0.

I dont know really i have the 3.5 155 KW with a lukey sports muffler, and MarkH has the TH 3.5 147 kw with the VRX muffler and he is quicker to start with then i catch up once i hit second gear, Both Autos, Mine tiptronic and both are Execs.

would think that the tippy box is heavier, and i dun think 8kw would be enough power to cover for the extra weight gained

The only difference between tippy and "normal" gearboxes is the shifter mechanism that bolts to the floor and pokes its head up through the console. The gearboxes are the same!

Then convert to a manual gearbox which is lighter.

Is this possible?

would think that could be a harder process...and time consuming..well i'm off going out now

I dont think it would actually be possible to convert a normal Auto into a Tiptronic. It has been tried before with limited success.

Im sure someone else knows more details as to what would actually need to be changed but.

Some one on here got close. They had it semi-working, but then they hit a fundamental issue that stopped them. I think from memory the box is not quite the same, and I'm pretty sure it was the electronics that was the final nail in the coffin. A search should pull it up (I'm too lazy to do it though lol )

Yeah, it was Slickth. From memory, he could make it change between two gears, but couldnt select any others.

Yeah but try and tell the difference between them, just drive a TH manual then a TJ/TL manual and you can tell the difference

not sure how much difference there is. Dajaja ran a 14.9 out of his TH and he really only has an exhaust system and a pod filter, compared to 155kw-163kw TJ's running the same time with the same mods. 8kw isn't a whole lot different between the two.

It's the torque difference that you should be more interested in...
