If u like the power on petrol then u might wanna stay with petrol!! i have never ran my magna on Gas although my dads ford runs on gas and i hate to drive it, imo i would only do it if i couldnt afford petrol! And the conversion to do it cost around $1500-$2000 i think.

I am more concern about its safety rather than power. Have heard is safe but have seen bad cases.

Do a search, there are other threads on this.
Basically they run great on gas, yes it is worth doing if you drive a few kms, power loss is minimal

Safer than petrol. Gas has lock off switches at the tank and the engine and is set up very safely. The only problem is stupid backyarders who mess around with it

Thanks for that, you are referring to Gas and fuel option combo too? I thought that may be the way to go if needed to.

lpg also comes out of the tank at about -40deg so if theres a big leak it will freeze the hole over
theres also a safty switch that uses the ignition system as a trigger. the second the trigger stops gas turns off,
so if in a head on crash and the motor stops turning the gas is turned off at the tank and at the convertor

With the factory fitted LPG, where does the tank go? Does it replace the petrol tank and sit under the back-seat/boot area or does it go in the boot.
I figure if I drive 30,000km/year at an average consumption of 10L/100km and a price differential of $0.60/litre (worst case) it will save me $1800 in the first year. If it only costs $1500-$2000 to convert then it pays for itself in the first year. Sounds like a wise investment to me, considering it is rumoured that some of the taxes currently on LPG will be removed by 2008, making LPG even cheaper than it is now!!!
im def considering it ay just wanted so see if anyone ere has a magna perferably 3L to 3.5L engines

Unless the guys doing the convertion give you two chips then it is better to choose either dedicated gas(which is waaaaaaaaaaaay better in my opinion) or to stick with petrol. In my opinion LPG is a much better fuel as it has a higher octane, is cheap, burns cleaner and produces less carbon monoxide and comes from Australia. Although unless you engine has them fitted then the valve seats need to be replaced with LPG ones apparently. Try searching for the info about that though. If you were to go dedicated gas then there's a guy that was on the new inventors a while ago that had LPG injectors but I'm not sure if he's producing them yet. Here's his site anyhow

A quick rundown about the safety of LPG tanks. In the event of a collision an LPG tank is a lot safer than a petrol tank as they have to meet higher standards for crumple and puncture tests. Also in a lot of the newer tanks, when they get hot(ie in a fire) the gasses are released from a safety valve to stop the pressure from getting too high. The gas being released though, also operates a pump that splashes liquid from the bottom of the tank onto the top, effectively keeping the tank at a constant temperature.

i heard taxes will be INCREASED in 2008.. maybe i'm wrong
also.. gas is not as efficient as petrol.. so u'll be lucky to get 10L/100km.

LPG definetly seems to be the most economical way to go at the moment. I did a quick calc and at 15l/100k i'd still halve my fuel expenses. Closest next thing is biodiesel but I guess without a good source of veggie oil it can be hard. Finding a good and respectable installer is the hard part.
