Just changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, and am waiting for a spare minute to change the plugs. but after the service, whilst slowing to a stop the idle now drops to the point where its so close to stalling (has a couple of times).

Only thing i can think of is that its an '00 model TJ advance auto wagon, and i've only just had to replace the factory black diamond battery. After resetting the trip computer (S or W)it was on S, just so the other half could drive it (in a rush, on the side of the road battery replacement) That was a month ago, so today i had a spare minute, thought id set it back to W (Well, I thought W ment wagon) the stalling is noticably worse whilst set to W, then it is set to S. Keep in mind each time I change it, I'm disconecting the battery....

Or the ryco fuel filter, looked like the plastic hose side of it was a bees **** longer before the raised part that the hose clicks onto...dont know if it would matter. Its clicked on fine and the car runs sweet??

WTF is up with it, anyone had similar experiences?? and no I didn't search it, never had luck with the search..

Thanks for any help,

Steve

It's just the auto tranny computer relearning. Apparently letting the car idle for 10 mins after you reconnect the battery can help, then just driving as normal - it will soon settle down.

Make sure you set it to W for wagon.

Ahh, cool. I will have to give that a go then.

But also have to ask, whats the big difference between setting it to S or W?

Thanks for the prompt reply too BTW!

Cheers

ive been through this with my car both the TJ and KJ...and for me it made sfa of a difference, didnt change anything, fuel consumption, or anything - but you'd think it wqould be like for a reason though......

Well thats what I'd of figured to? Anyone know any specifics to the reason for the options? I just looked at it again and thought maybe S for Summer, W for Winter?? Dunno?

probably fuel tank size, that's it

When replacing/reconnecting a battery on a Mitsu, as soon as you start engine I rev it to 1500-2000 and hold it there for 60 secs. Its an old trick the mechhies use.

So if I leave it set to S, it shouldn't make SFA difference except fo the trip computer accuracy?

S=sedan W=wagon dont know what the reasoning behind it is?But you should disconnect your battery reconnect it and let it idle for 10 mins as previously stated.Other people on here have had the same symptoms when the battery has been disconnected and for some this has worked!!!

if youz still have problems with the idling after trying all other ideas. Your best bet is bring it to mitsu n have your idle reset. takes about 5 mins to set, then u just need to let the car idle for 5-10 mins.
it involve puitting the car into SAS mode (like a base idle), using diagnostic computer, n adjusting the idle screw on throttle body until the idle is roughly 750rpm...

Yeah the only difference is fuel tank size. Only differs by a few L anyway. If you have a wagon then choose W. Will be more accurate.

Yeah just disconnect and reconnect battery again and do as the others say. Just the idle computer setting itself.
Should be fine.
