hey guys,
I am now up to the stage of purchasing some front splits for $300 or under.
I have Diamond Audio m391i 6x9s and a DD 3512d subwoofer.
Out of the Focal 165V2's and the Hertz HSK165's, which one would be better suited to my system?? Feel free to suggest any other splits that would suit this setup :D
cheers,
Sam

Hertz in my opinon
the woofer is great but tweet lacking a bit, i currently have a set in my car
happy for the money i paid but would upgrade in a heartbeat
I find the Hertz are a little more bass heavy with a stronger attack while the Focals are a little more refined and better suited to the softer genres. However, the best thing to do is listen to both and make your decision then. ;)

I believe Freeway Car Audio has Hertz. I will stand corrected on that though.
I would like to second Marty's opinion on the two sets of splits in question. Hertz trades refinement and a very flat frequency response to slap you around the head with midbass- HARD! They still kill all the normal speakers like the Pioneer Yellow cones and the Alpine Type S / Type R by a large margin, and usually for less money.
Focals are very nice, easy to listen to speakers. They are much flatter in frequency response. Nice to listen to for Rock.
I like the idea of the Hertz, but I am looking at your Diamond 6x9's and think something a bit better might suit. Hex series Diamond splits will be your best bet, however they are expensive. You will blow Paul out of the water with those.
Otherwise the Boston's might be a good choice. They lie somewhere between the Hertz and the Focals.
I will reiterate for people reading this thread - better to buy the good speakers first, you will only want to upgrade them in 12 months time or less. Do it once, do it right the first time.
Best of luck with the listenin'!
