OK, the K&N panel filter is done, now time for the exhaust, any advise? i want to do the whole system from new headers to tip, but not sure about the cat. Should this be changed to high flow, is it worth it? Can anyone recommend a place that does a good job on exhausts?

Would appreciate peoples experiences.

Redback Cat-back exhasts are a popular option for the piping on 3rd gens, and Pacemaker extractors are a popular option to replace the factory headers. The redback piping is 2.5" mendrel bent, mild steel and will bolt straight up to your cat with little to no modification required (there have been varying reports of wether or not they are a direct bolt on fit, but I think there are different versions available for different models). Pacemaker headers are a good value for money option and feature mendrel bends and tuned lenght primaries.

High-Flow cats are generally considered a waste of time unless you planning more mods in the future (eg: cams / headwork or forced induction).

If you already have a "straigh thru" design muffler fitted - I wouldn't expect any significant gains from upgrading the rest of the exhaust based on your current modifications...... the stock exhaust system (excluding the exec. muffler) is pretty good, and you will hardly notice the differece the extractors make with your only other mod being a K&N panel filter.

It all depends on how far you want to go. If you are planing more mods in the future, then you might as well upgrade your whole exhaust system in one go, but if you are going to stop at induction and exhaust - you're really probably better off just replacing the rear muffler.

As for good places to do the work, well exhaust work isn't exactly rocket science....... make a few phone calls - most exhaust places will be able to give you a pretty good idea of price over the phone. Other than that, maybe some members who live near you can recommend some workshops.

thanks, i spoke to my local exhaust man, he confirmed what you said, he added that there were some changes he could do to the exhaust between the engine and cat that would help also. Will be getting the job done on friday. this is heaps cheaper too. Now to decide whether dual or single out back??
