New Carpoint review on the 380GT.

Good to see they like the car, but, unfortunately they don't right a hell alot about it. They tend to focus on other factors around the 380 range rather then just looking at the 380GT. All in all; a decent review.

Just thought I'd post it any how.

That was a good review. They talked about the car a lot I thought and pushed forward ALL of the cars features. Damn it's a great buy. I'd have one any day of the week over a Statesman or a Fairlane. And the price difference between said models is staggering. For example the Statesman, RRP is $57k, RRP for GT is $45k. Both cars have extremely similair levels of kit and extremely similair performance figures, but the GT is $12k cheaper.

I think you really need to leave the statesman and fairlane out of the comparrison (their both lwb cars for starters!)

For a large sports luxury 380 GT's natual competition is Maxima Ti, Camry Azure, Hyundai Sonata V6/Grandeur, and if we must, Calais and Fairmont. Probably could also include the leather coated fully optioned XRs and SS in the mix too.

Kit for kit they are extremely similair tho. LWB jacks the price up $12k?

Yeah its a bigger car - same deal with the German cars - look at the 5 series to the 7 series. Same features, same engine (mostly), bigger car

Agreed :)

Don't get started on natural competition........this has been covered in depth on another thread!!!

Get Wheels Magazine to do a review!!!!!!

They'd have the base 380 up againts the Fairlane, Caprice, 7 Series BMW, and maybe even a Mercedes AMG thrown in for good measure.
Well thats the way they seem to run their comparison's lately.

Look at previous posting in regards to Wheels May 2006, big car comparo (380 only base model in test up against mid specs, Sports and luxury models!!!) if you don't believe me!!! What a joke.......I use to value wheel's articles many years ago........
I just read the June 2006 Wheels. They print one letter out of the heaps they admitted receiving in regards to this......in part of their response they try to argue that the reason they put a Sportivo Camry up against the other cars including the base 380 was because the appropriate equal Camry model would have got slaughtered in this comparison!!!!!!

I'm sure this is comforting to Hyundai who's car finished last behind the Sportivo, and Mitsubishi who's base 380 was beaten by Commodore Acclaim, Ford Futura, and Nissan Maxima, all more expensive and different competition classes!!

If only they were so accomodating of the 380 and Hyundai!

What a joke!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. but different specs I think. (without going and looking) More features in the 7 series, not just a LWB added for good measure and an extra $12k added to the price tag. You cannot compare a 5 series BMW, 7 series BMW and a Mitsubishi 380GT and Holden Statesman. My point was that for the same kit and same performance, the 380GT is a fantastic buy. I see your point, but simply because it has a long wheel base and is a bigger car is no reason to put an extra $12k on the price of the bloody thing!
