I was reading a thread the other day where some of you guys did the conversion from auto shifter to the leather boot from a manual. I went o my local mitsi dealer and apparently the price has come down a little, I got the boot and screws for just under $20. Yeah yeah I know it's only $4 but it all adds up. Whilst I was at Mitsi's the bloke there lent me a auto gear knob off of a 380 series 2 (mn168273xa) is the part #. I tried fitting it but the actual shaft from my te is much skinnier than the 380 and also the cable does'nt seem to want to locate on the lever button. The gear knob itself is similar to a vr/vs commodore style. So in saying that I guess it comes down to how much time you want to spend mucking around with it. Plus I think they come in a very limited colour range. Mitsi's were asking about $30 for a 380 gear knob.

That was me, only $30 for the 380 gear knob???
I think i might have to do this mod when i get paid in a couple of weeks :D.
Can you get black/grey?
So you're saying they wont fit? or they will with abit of modification?
I guess for $30 it's worth a try.

sorry for the confusion mate, it would probably fit with some stuffing around maybe a sleeve or something. I think the problrm might lay with the cable locating up inside of the lever. If you have any luck let me know as I only had about 10 mins to try and test fit it. The one I was lent was black plastic grip with a grey plastic insert running top to bottom. Hope this has been useful. cya

Yeh that's the one i was looking at getting. Sucks that it's made of plastic because it looks really good. I'll give it a try and get back to ya :).
The 380 auto gear nob has a "trigger grip" ie, the button is facing the front of the car, and you use your finger like a trigger to disengage/engage. Where the magna's, have a thumb button. dont see how you can change it.
