Hey Guys,
How much would I be looking at to get my stem seals done? Would most mechanics try and do it with the heads on or would they prefer to take them off? If the cost is huge I would attempt them myself, but otherwise....
Thanks again
Callum

The stem seals can be done either head on or off.
The cost will of course depend on which method is used.
If yo try it yourself and drop a valve then you up for the $$$

if you do it on the car...
some people use compressed Air to cause the valves to stay in position..
IE remove the sparkplug.. crank the engine until you have top dead centre of that cylinder and then blow compressed air in through the sparkplug hole..
then use the valve spring remover tool to compress the springs (this is the second problem.... the tool need to be one that clamps onto the spring and compresses it by wonding the handel on the top...
These are not the cheapest tool. and sometims they may not be able to get into the correct position to undo them.. (Id think that the rear bank would be the issue.
I would nt try it myself... but I would assist my mechanic friend .
Good luck

Pay someone $250-$350 to get it done. I have the same problem now with mine and thought about doing it myself but it's too hard.

Ring up Ultra Tune. They quoted me $750 (I think) for Valve stem seals and new tappets aswell.
You should come out on the cruises! :D

Don't have the time at the mo :( . Baby's due in 6 weeks :D
My mechanic friend said that he can't guarantee its just the seals. It could
also be the guides. If the Guides are worn then just replacing the seals
may only temporarily fix the problem untill the worn guides damage the
seals again.
