If i were to get 15'' subs would there be too much rattle in the car?
a mate of mine has a 15" and his VN rattles like a mofo i dont want my magna to fall apart!
i have 2 pioneer 6x9s they seem to pump pretty good! is it really worh getting subs? and what combination would work best with subs and amps! with my pioneer deck and 6x9s?

I have 1 12" and it can ratel the car so a 15 i assume would do the same but more

a 15 will rattle the car but most things are easily fixed if you use sound deadening. so if you get a 15" sub and dont want rattles, budget about $200 for sound deadening (if you put it on yourself).

In terms of recommended subs and amps, let us know how much you can spend and we will be able to help more.

Also are you just after a loud system or do you want some quality. I am guessing loud without sounding sh*t (but not necessarily sounding amazing).

Do you have any speakers in the front?

i have the stock magna speakers in the fron but they are sh!t yeah i want it to be quality and loud like a comprimise is the word! um... how much will i need 2 spend? im leaning toward about 700 but im willing to pay more for better!

well You could probably get away with a $400 jaycar monoblock for the amp and there is probably plent of good 15" subs in the $300 - $400 bracket (i dont really know 15's). You also need to allow about $200 for a proberly built box. without it you will be wasting the sub.

Based on what I have heard from 12" subs I would look towards the IDQ15 from image dynamics (although ths will be more than $400) and also the hertz HX or HSX 15" subs. The base model oz audios are good too and definately within budget but I am not sure about a 15"

I also reckon you should spend a couple hunder at least on some front speakers. what size are the stock ones?

Budget $200 as fats said, for this you can get a decent amount of dynamat and some paint on SD.

the rattles ive noticed in the TR have been
1. Bootlid (fixed with paint on SD)
2. Roof (fixed with paint on SD)
3. Those panels between the tail lights and the rear doors....can be fixed with some dynamat or probably Paint on SD.....i'll do it sooner or later but i cbf'd moving my amps.
4. Garnish/Number plate, Can be fixed with some rubber...and paint on SD....still haven't 100% conqered the problem though
5. Some people say the parcel shelf rattles....i havent noticed it at all?
(this is with 2 12"s with 350WRMS going to each)

You dont NEED a sub, but the system sounds so much better with one, as you would have a dedicated....sort of low frequency woofer, instead of going to your speakers and making them all muffled.

you can get a decnet set of 6" co-ax's or even splits for about $150, and for 6x9's i highly recommend the JBL GTO 936e's for $130 from strathfeild (100WRMS, 91db sens)

I'll bet any money that after reading some more responses your budget would of gone up to 1K!

if you got some $$$ get a 4 channel to run your speakers
and a monoblock to run the sub, or subs
Now someone will correct me here, but monoblocks are a special "subwoofer" amplifier...which also run alot cooler aswell with less chance of overheating, at a higher effiecency.....or something along those lines lol

get some 6"s as i said and re-wire them into the door cards....as the pic in the thread "ts interior mods" in the 2nd gen section.

pretty easy to whack em in the doors, just getting the wire there is a bit of a *****.

no use getting a nice sub and amp with your speakers hooked to the deck, totally useless.

so have you actually got anything in mind? as speakers...subs....how big....what do you want from a system?

and try and take a breath or two while typing:)

sorry to tell ya mate, but your 6x9's dont pump hard haha, but first of all, i would worry about your front speakers, budget around 400-500 bucks for some decent front splits, and 200-300 for an amp to run them, ofcours now you will need a wiring kit, 40-50 bucks, trust me, if your fronts are ****ed and all you got is 6x9's in the back, adding a sub would only make it worse, you gonna have all your sound behind you, and chances are the 15 will drown that out.....basically your system will sound like absolute crap

It really depends what you're after in a system. Most people (from what ive found anyway) don't actually understand the term "quality". Within 700 you will not be looking at speakers with a high sound quality, however, this doesnt mean they'll sound **** :P If you choose wisely and spend the monmey on the right areas, you'll be able to come out with a fairly pumping system. If you're going to be adding a sub, see if you can strech your budget out to about a grand. That should give you enough for some new splits, amp and sub. If you want to save money, install it yourself - only do this if you're confident or know someonw who can give you a hand.. there's nothign worse than spendin a grand on gear and ***** it up :P
Jaycar amps are apparently good bang for ya buck, i really havn't heard a bad thing about them for their price point. MTX subs will prob do the job you're after, 1x12" in a vented box should give you enough oomph to give a nice massage.

i have 2 15" subs boy does it rattle like a mofo. will be doing a complete new install.
Will cost about 2k.2 rockford 15's, rockford 2500w mono, rockford 1200w 4 channel,
mb quart front splits, mb quart 6x9's, clarion flip out touch screen dvd/cd

I have heard that digital design is pretty good value for money also can get from doran

**** man, 2g's for all that? my subs and amp cos 2 grand alone haha! digital designs is great value for money..... but not in the sence like pioneer or jaycar, its on a much higher level of value for money... ie. a grand will get you a sub that will decimate all, so even though its expensive, its still great value cos of what you get for that thousand dollars if ya get what i mean..... but still, you could get a dd1012, which is an awsome sub for the price, they dont look pretty (except with c/f dust caps hehe) but they will out perform almost anyother sub in that price range.... so if you can afford it, go dd
