ive been looking at upgrading my system its not great nor do i really want it to be all i wanna do is add a bit of kick for as little money as possible. i have a good kenwood head unit that has 3 pre outs so im covered there. i was looking today at response amps which get talked about on here as good for the money amps and i was thinking of getting a
2x150wrms and bridging it to run a 300wrms jbl sub. then i was thinking of getting a
4x100wrms to do my speakers in the cabin but i have now realised that my jbl 6x9's are only 70wrms and my litttle 5 1/4" are only 45wrms chosen soley for their snug fit in the ts doors. now quality isnt an issue i paid little for these speakers and they sound fine to me i just wanna add some bass and amp them make them sound better. but i have realised that a second amp is way to powerful so this lead me to look at my second option of bridging a 4x130wrms amp to get as claimed "2x380". now this is plenty for the sub but for the other channels can i tone it down to power my 6x9's and or the little fronts? i really dont know much bout amps and stuff so help would be much appreciated.

Firstly, dont worry about the amp having too much power, you can just turn the gains down. having said that, there is a 4x50wrms jaycar amp that is cheaper anyway.

the sub and amp package you suggested sounds fine.

Heres what I would do.

get a 4x100 jaycar amp. Bridge 2 channels for the JBL sub. use the other 2 channels for the front speakers (with the gains turned down a fair bit). leave the rears running off the head unit (you may want to amp the rears and run the frond of the HU though, up to you).

there is two things you need to be carefull of.

1. Make sure the sub you get is a 4ohm model (or a duel 2ohm). The jaycar amp will be no good with a 2ohm sub.

2. Make sure you set the gains properly. If you just turn them up all the way (even for the sub) you may get clipping. This will kill the sub or speakers quite quickly.

Hope that helps
