OK, I've done the right thing and trolled posts for an hour but still can't find what the offset is for a TL Magna Wagon. The FAQ section only states for TE-TJ. Now that you've tut tutted and called me stupid noobie - anybody know ? I'm asking cos I want to buy some BA 16x6 j steel rims with 215/60 R16 tyres at +40 offset. Is a +40 offset gonna cause me any problems ? Thanks.

Ok, trolled this time using Google cached pages and it seems TL Magna Wheel Offset (there, now it's easy to find) is +46. Yes, noobie stupid, of course it's the same as the TJ.
Most posts talk about fitting alloys, which tend to be wider than standard steel wheels, so is a +40 offset on a 16x6j rim going to cause any problems ?

May sit out from the guards a little more, although your talking about a 16x6 here - wouldnt this be a fairly sideways move as it is?

A fairly sideways move ? Que ?
Ok, I guess I've got this offset thing all wrong. I thought a +40 offset would mean that the wheel was closer to the car than a +46 offset i.e I thought it was just a figure that somehow referred to the distance the wheel sat from the hub, so +46 would be further away than +40. What you are saying is that it is the opposite : a +40 offset would put the rim edge of the wheel further away from the car, that the offset is actually the distance from the centre of the wheel to the rim ? And let me guess, the +46 is not just some comparitive figure, it's the distance in millimetres ? *penny drops*
So I guess one problem is will they stick out past the mudguards. Well 215's wont stick out past the very top of the mudguard. Is this all that matters ? Will there be handling or alignment problems ? We're only talking 6mm here (aren't we ?).

Offset is the distance (in mm) from the centreline of the wheel to the hub. a +40 offset is about right for that wheel. a +46 offset will put the wheel closer to your strut.

While this makes sense... its worth noting that Mitsu's standard 6" rims and standard 7" rims are BOTH +46 offset... Hell even the 15" factory mags are +46.
