View Full Version : Gold rims on a magna?
I bought a TJ VRX a few weeks back. Got it for $7990 which was an absolute steal although it's got a tonne of Ks on it plus I really dont like the wheels. Just saw a set of gold 17s i the latest Bob Jane cataluge (top row second from left).

What do people think of gold rims on a magna? Anyone got any good pics of magnas with gold rims so I can check out how it looks?

Gold rims on a Magna run the risk of it looking like a Giant Subaru, but it can work - check out Flava's car - Blue and gold.

on a green car u might be able to pull it of but id say alloy, shadow chrome or even chrome will look hot on ur car. and why go 17" go 18" :D

Hmmm not sure about gold rims with that colour car. Looking through the catalogue I'd suggest Torque, Khan, Grid or Quake in that order in 18 +.
Edit: Actually, white rims may look ok too.

Nah not a fan of the gold!! Although some ppl love the gold rims i guess its personal preference!! if u like them i say go for it!! but i would go for the torque's or even those white rims would look sick with the green!
On green id go Bronze or Shadow chrome.
Gold will look crapola..
Yeah I'm not 100% set on the gold by any means. But I really liked those rims (apart from the colour) and the price was right. I think I'll just bide my time and wait for a decent set with rubber to come along in the for sale section.
Gold miiiight work.....best try some photochops.....and definately absolutely go with 18's..

errrr if the point was to ignore he wouldnt have asked for an opinion...
Calling people idiots is not a good way to keep the peace!
hmmm gold might look ok, but you would have to be VERY picky with your rim style or it would look oh so wrong! Prolly safer to steer clear of it. 18" Chrome or silver would be a much better choice with a much bigger variety of rims to choose from.

Green & Gold..... Hmmmm
Aussie Aussie Aussie.... Oy Oy Oy:bowrofl: :bowrofl:
You would need to go to the tyre shop, put the wheels next to your car and stand back and see how they look. Sometimes it is more the style of wheel then the colour.
That's what annoys me about those wheels. They are exactly the style of wheel I was after, unfortunately they just happen to be gold :(
Ps Thanks for the chop Mr Bishi.

I have a Saphire Blue Sports & just got a new set off 19" Lensos & had them painted a light gold but left the outside rim silver.
They look fantastic but have no pics yet.

I personally like gold rims, and that's what it's all about really. If you like it go for it. You may have to be prepared to cop flak about looking like an Oversized WRX, But I did go Gold on Blue.

and hopefully the rim will fall to the concrete and make a tiny little mark on it and youll get $400 off the set like I did :bowrofl:

In my opinion, the only colours that i think would suit gold rims would be white, black and blue.

I would go with a different design and look of rims. But green and gold is not bad. Just make sure the car is lowered ;) Rims on a stock height car looks crap. :)
I thought I might be in luck when I rang Bob Jane and he said they make those rims in silver as well but unfortunately when he looked it up on the computer he found out that those rims are discontinued and can't be obtained in any colour.

White, black, blue and red.

Gold will suit your car, Although i'd only go gold if they were 18's or 19's and your car was Dumped!
But be carefull, the wrong style of rim in gold will destroy the looks of your car.

There is a VRX on my walk home from work that has the first set of mags from that Bob Jane catalogue on it. Doesn't look too shabby and cheap rims for 18s as well.

I think, go the gold, there are some nice ones with a chrome outer rim and gold spokes. I like em alot and they would look sweet on ur ride.

Ive got exactly the same colour tj sport. Gold would look hot on your car. Jack Brabham and his formula one cars were hot, legendary, and the green and gold colour scheme unforgettable! (My dad actually sprayed some of Jacks race cars as well. On ya dad.)

i have a relo with that dark blue vrx jt, and hes got a set of silver rimmed/gold center Speedy's, it looks damn nice imho, so its not either fully silver or gold rims, but a nice inbetween. imho, golds can look real nice on dark colored cars, just try to have a rim thats not very chunky, and itll look awesome. :-)

Just for fun, i did one of my car with gold rims. Doesnt really work on silver methinks. lol.
I'm all new to this nice car stuff and decided I wasn't bogan/ricer enough to get gold rims. I ended up going with some much more boring ones.
