Woohoo!
Finally it has been done! :D

Deep scratches were fixed, the two cracks were mended and it was sprayed and fitted! :D

I'm so happy with the result.
These bar's look the best and they make the car look much beefier.
If in Sydney and you're looking for a bar like this one, i'd recommend sumo spares in Chipping Norton.
Although they are quite pricey, they are absolutely worth it.

Here are pics of the progress ;)

Looks a lot nicer than the stock bar!

Just out of curiosity, did you find the size for the numberplate was too small too?

Our bar's look hot!
Thanks kill :D

The number plate section is too small for the yellow nsw ones, i'd hate to try and put in the white and black slim long NSW ones. That would be deadly.
So I just bolted them ontop of the holder section instead of cram it in

How did you fit your plate in? We have the same sized number plate holders I think?
And probs?

Reckon my plate looks okay like this?

good stuff dude.

I did plan on using a plank of wood cut to size so I could fit the number plates properly without damaging the bar or the plates themselves. Also had a thought about using number plate holders from other makes using ABS plastic.

Actually the white on black (or any other colour plated ones for that matter) are the same width as the yellow ones. For these designs, the front plates are smaller than the rear plates.

Did you have the same bar as well dan? Or series one bar?

How'd you manage to squeeze your plates in?

Show us some pics of your old bar! :D

yeah, we had the same bar (it was fitted to my car) till i had a car accident

EDIT: wat we did was put some metal strips and made it stick out and bolted it on where the screws were on the original bar, then bolted the plates on it

the new mitsubishi colts have the same problem as those front bars, being that you cant fit a normal number plate in the section because they are to big for the allocated section..

at work, we use big plastic washers that are about 8mm thick, that way it still holds the plates on securly, yet they dont damage the front bumper or bend the plates.. only downside is, it looks a bit ulgy coz you can still see section where the plate should fit behind it..

just get a usa style front plate, if you have them down south, they will fit in fine

Looks good, what was the final cost out of curiosity ?
$360 for the bar
$250 for painting and fixing up the cracks and deep scratches in the bar
$70 to have it fitted.

$685 all together

The guy at the smash repairs offered to put it on for me but I got there just before they closed on a Friday night then saturday I wanted it fitted and they were closed so I just wen to a smash repairs near my home to get it done. Reason why I didn't fit it myself is because a few nuts where rounded and I couldn't grip them with a spanner.

Very expensive just for a front bar that's for sure!
But I'm really happy with it and you might think - what the hell! As if you'd pay that much for a front bar! But they are rare as. And it looks unique and i'm very pleased with the result! :D

Damn that's pretty expensive on a respray dude! Even I would question that!

Only $250 was mine he brought it down from $300.
Really good service there.

Plus I got it colour coded to suit the car and the paint code A5 is very very hard to mix, but they did a perfect job. The deep scratches in the bar got fixed as well and it looks brand new :)

Got a pic of your front bar btw?

 Its times like this, when I see a great looking TS/KS, that makes me wonder whether I should of just pimped my TS wagon, rather than changing cars....Looks great mate! Where did you put the switch for the fog lights?

dimi108
08-06-2006, 09:07 PM
:D Thanks fuzz

Still looking at my options for a fog light switch.
Hopefully might stumble across one that will fit.
I think dan said a fog light switch from a lancer would fit the button section near the coin box :)
I want it to look as OEM as it can. Don't want those metal missile flick switches or anything like that.

So i'll try confirm it and if so, i'll buy a new switch from mitsu then get the fog lights hooked up by an auto elec to the swtich.

Replaced the fog lights with H3 phillips super whites just like my headlight globes ;)

When i was looking at the option of a diamonte bar that was where i was hoping to mount the switch. From memory there were 3 slots, and mine had the dimmer and cruise control switch there, so there was room...Ah memories lol

Yeah! Fuzz the button next to the cruise control is free for *something* aye?!
I'm going to try slot a mitsu fog light switch in there.

I really wonder what that button was for.

Any idea anyone?

hmm... u will need the relays for the foggies :)
that could be fun wiring in.... unless you already have them...

relays are pretty easy to wire up if u know very basic electronics.

if u dont have any clue then take it to an auto electrician or get someone of here to help ya.

on the topic of fog lights i was in repco and saw these little lights. has anyone fitted any type of fog/driving lights to a tr/ts front bar. i was thinking it would be easy to cut the centre pieces on the left and right sides to make a nice snug fit. the pics are pretty lame but they are small round ones about 70mm diamater i think. also if i was to get them is anyone sure about the lancer fog light switch fitting into the factory spot above the coin box?

The NZ diamonte is the same interior as the KS, and was right hand drive (obviously), so thats where the switch would go. I remember looking on some NZ car part websites (well the only one lol) and they listed the "diamonte fog light switch", but didnt have photos

Wonder if you can get them from mitsu in NZ :D
