I've got a analog tuner in my car with ariel(sp) and i'm not satisfied with the receiption i'm curious to know, can i install a digital set top box using the exsiting ariel(sp) or do i need a digital one? can this be installed the same way as the analog one (along the window edges)?
Anyone tried this??? any ideas on price for such a device??

Antenna should work. I know people that use digi set top boxes with bunny aerials. Get the box and plug it in, if it doesn't work find another aerial.
Should be interesting.

In a good reception area, you will get enough signal off a wet piece of string for digital reception. Like on the north shore of Sydney.

However, you will find that as you move away from transmitters, you will get no signal at all.... digital TV either has a signal or none at all.

A good diversity antenna system (ideally active) will fix that.

I dont think a set-top dox with an inverter will be good enough however, they are 'tuned' to a fairly stable signal. When you are moving around, you will get problems with the varying signal levels you are getting. Would be much better to go with a designed mobile system that can deal with all the problems.

By all means, give it a go, but I am betting it will be mainly unsuccessful.

If you get ****ty reception, get a signal booster. That may help also. But yeah. With digital, you need a damn good signal at all times. Moving around isn't gonna give you a stable image. It will just stop at times. Its almost like watching a scratched dvd. Image and sound stop at times.

Not worth it in my opinion. If you get **** analoge reception, then digital may fix that, but since you are moving around, not a good idea IMO
