I've seen many late model KJ and early KL Veradas around the low 20k mark, and for what you get seem very good.
Do the GTVi KJ2's have AWD? or are they FWD?
are they 5 speed auto?

The KJ GTVi isn't AWD. Only the KW GTVi (my series). They are 5 speed sports auto.
Get the KW GTVi AWD. Its a much better ride. Tend to be a bit on the heavy side at
almost 1800kg kerb mass.

Yeh i've seen a black GTVi KL AWD, dunno if KJII had them. They're bloody nice inside. This one had black leather everything and to just sit in it was pure sex. Made my exec seats feel cheap lol.
As far as i know though, the GTVi's are still around the $30k mark, they're very popular.
Mitsu combined the Verada AWD and the Verada GTVi in the KW series. So in the KW series
you have the base Verada, Verada GTVi AWD and the Verada Xi. The seats in the GTVi and
GTVi AWDs are black perforated leather seats. Very comfy and cool in summer.
Heres (http://members.optusnet.com.au/~vbednikov/gallery.html)some pics of mine.
Also, They went back to the longer bumpers in the KW series. The KL series Veradas has
the standard Magna bumpers. Thus the KW series Veradas get back the rear side reflectors
and a combination reflector and repeator at the front. Notice the ledge infront of the head
lights due to the longer bumper.

Yeah, a lot of the KL GTVi's are high 20's, with KW's being around 30k. I'm really looking at cars around 20k, so the KL Ei's just make it in. They aren't that nice to look at though. *wishes for TL VR-X kit on Verada*
Are the lesser models worthy enough? or am I best to go for a Magna in AWD?

I see a couple of KJ AWD Verdas every so often around Canberra. Really unhappy that KL GTVi's can be had for less then what I paid for my KJ2 wagon though. Although the dealer near me reckons Verada wagons have held their value better then the sedans.

Probably a standard KJ Verada AWD with GTVi badging or vice versa. The GTVi AWD has
the VRX engine and the VRX exhaust with the single droopy tip.

End of the day id go the AWD verada over the GTVi. cant justify the extra money when the first thing id do would be to get some extractors and new exhaust which would be better performance than GTVi to start with. and if you modded the GTVi it would come out pretty much the same anyways...
*that said, any verada is better than no verada.

I'd pay a few extra k's then for it! It's more comfortable than my lounge suite at home that cost $2000 lol!
I think you really need to sit in one to appreciate it. The most comfortable car i've ever been in.

Mine came with the black perforated leather. All there was to do was to respray the pretty awful woodgrain. There is very little difference apart from that. Especially if you plan to mod.

Funny, my wife reckons the seats are awful. And to be honest, compared to her VK Calais the Verada's seats are pretty average. Although jumped into a TJ2 Exec today and I reckon the Verada interior is so much better it is scary.
