Hi all, i have an tr 2.6 and i replaced the 2 chains. being sick of the job and tired, i started it without draining the oil  (therefore lots of water was in the oil)
Changed the oil and filter but the oil light takes ages to go off and the longer you leave it unstarted- the longer it takes for the oil pressure to come up. the car is not rego'd so i don't want to reg and drive to see if it'll fix unless i know it is the answer.
Any Ideas?
cheers Crazy

Did you remove either or both of the oil pump drive gears?
On the back of them there are 2 dots that have to be lined up before you put em back, if you dont you could have all sorts of wierd effects.
Whats the oil look like now that yuve run it after the oil change and what sort of oil did you use?

i didn't take to oil pump off, only undone the bolt near it to remove the chain. i removed the timing chain plunger to compare it to another one. i only put some standard crappy oil back in it, twice. first lot as a flush, then changed oil filter and oil again.
I got water in the oil when taking the timing cover off. should of drained oil then- being a tight ****
oil looks ok atm just takes waaay to long to prime up. hmmm

Go get a temporary certificate from eg vicroads, you'll legally be able to take an
unreg vehicle onto the public road for a few laps around your house.
If only a little water is in the sump, usually boils off when the engine reaches
operating temperature for a decent stretch. May cause some "mayo" in your
valve cover though.

the oil light was flickering on when car was going, starting to worry that the key wasn't on the shaft properly when i put the balancer chain back on. Will drop the sump to see if it in there.
