Hi,
I've had my '97 TF wagon for about a year now. It is a 5 speed manual with the 2.4 litre 4 cylinder. It came without a handbook so I have no official guidance on which gears to use at which speeds.

When I get to 60km/h I have always left it in 3rd @ 2300rpm. If I shift to 4th it drops to 1900rpm and the back window blurs in the rear view mirror with the slight vibration. It also becomes much harder to maintain 60km/h in 4th compared to 3rd.

So, for all of the 4 cylinder drivers, what gear do you tend to leave it in at 60?

If that's the case wouldn't you leave it in 3rd then?

I don't like driving in 3rd however... Just a personal thing :)

if I m just cruizing on a flat road at 60kph, I would put it on the 5th gear, having economy on mind; or else on 4th.

No relevance here because I've got a 3L, but I leave it in 4th just cruising and It's fine, you just don't have as much torque is all.
Strange thread lol

Depends on lots of things, on a flat with constant pace should easily do it in 5th, for fuel economy, 4th might be better but if you cant stand vibration keep it in 3rd.
